SkyWatch - Just another Sunrise, Part 1

This sunrise did not look like much as I prised open one eye
and cast it out the window.

I left my nice warm bed anyway and by the time I had my
fleecy dressing gown on and braved the dewy morning,
it had assumed some colour

so I got a little trigger-happy and snapped away until the sun rose.

The more I snapped, the more the colours changed and grew
and the number of shots grew as well
so, I'll be showing different aspects of this one event
over a few weeks.

Wild Bird Wednesday and Nature Notes - Little Corellas, hundreds of them . . .

Yesterday, I had occasion to go to Murray Bridge and while
there, took the opportunity to walk by the river,
only to find it very crowded indeed.

There were hundreds, if not thousands of Little Corellas
digging up and nibbling on the new, white node shoots
of the extensive lawns.

Not concerned with passing cars and only lazily flapping a
short distance when children chased them.

Others, who had had their fill, were decorating the abundant
trees in the vicinity.

Some had slipped into the land of nod

while others were in a semi-comatose, meditative state

unconcerned with the preening tactics of their neighbours.

This one, with his feathers ruffled by a gentle breeze,
slept with half an eye open

while below, a couple were intent on removing the sheaths
off each others emerging head feathers

and needless to say, here and there, the occasional
squabble enlivened the scene.

OUR WORLD - Kowhai

A few weeks ago, my eldest granddaughter came home
from our agricultural show with a tiny piglet.

Hear soft heart turned over seeing these motherless babies
so we are once more saddled with a pet.

Beside her two dogs, cat, ram lamb, three goat kids
and horses of course,

A week later, little Kowhai is already drinking from a bowl
while Boston looks on

and cleans up the spills

ah, that was good but even a piglet is full
when a piglet is full!

Bet you think my manners leave something to be desired,
I'm a PIG not a debutante!

That's that, now for some more work in the garden.

Now show us your world!

TODAY'S FLOWERS and Weekend Flowers - Zygopetalum

How wonderful it is after a dry and almost flowerless summer,
this lovely perfumed orchid has presented me with two spikes
of blooms!

If you look into the heart, there is a leprechaun mending
the purple striped carpet.

SkyWatch - This and That

To look at this, you would think there is nothing
much going on in the sky

just turn your head a little and the picture is entirely different.

Although it looked great, that is all it did.

OUR WORLD and Wild Bird Wednesday - A Walk in the Wild Wood

Easter Sunday I had a chance to go for a walk in the

Wild Wood

I raised a few Galahs as the bored Magpie looked on,

the first of the elm leaves had turned to gold

while the rest of the elms and these poplars refused to
budge from their summer green.

Just a day later, while driving to town,
there autumn colours were ablaze everywhere.

Near the Wild Wood dam, there was a mad chirruppig
and fluttering of wings that even I could spot.

This little Hen Superb Blue Wren was heavily engaged on
feeding on things even smaller than the little ball of fluff that
she was.

Can you spot her here?

Here she is again, delightfully camouflaged against the
rough bark of the fallen Nut Pine.

Weekend Reflections, Weekend Flowers and TODAY'S FLOWERS

I have just learned how to access my photos on my
comatose computer.

Insignificant for most of you but a giant leap for
this advanced age novice.

A precious waterlily from times gone by
that was lost in our prolonged drought,
but still gives joy in the remembering.

All three memes can be accessed from my sidebar.
