TODAY'S FLOWERS & I Heart Macro - Vallota Lily

This year I only had one stem of my Vallota Lilies
with two blooms on it

it got a little bruised with the recent rains
but was joy to see nonetheless

Enjoy your flowers today
who knows what they will be like tomorrow!

SkyWatch - Surprise!

There I was, weeding for much longer than my body could take
I even kept on when the rain started
until I got dizzy being bent over

I stretched and carefully turned so as not to fall or step on
my tulips peeping above the ground

and there it was!

a full rainbow right across the sky

naturally even when weeding, my camera was at hand

so I just about snapped over

and there you have it . . .

Wild Bird Wednesday - Birds in the Park + one

Where do birds come to you when you seed them?

Any park frequented by families with small children
will do, even with intermittent rain

A proud Black Duck drake checking me out

sorry guys, I only came to read my book and relax for half an hour

her ladyship is more observant and waltzes right by

next a Crested Pigeon

or two amble over

and strut off in disgust at the bookworm

the bonus for this week is an obliging Superb Blue Wren hen
in the paddock next to my garden

OUR WORLD and Nature Notes - Mush . . . rooms

The dark mysterious forest

No, the big, bad wolf did not stalk me
he would not dare, I'm too quick on the draw . . .

meanwhile, I enjoyed what the forest floor offered
up for my delectation

these little dears, though wet, seemed quite happy with their lot

just a big slimy protecting it's young

this little one, no more than an inch across, was looking for
a friend but sadly, there was none about

but this was what I was looking for
just poking up it's head to look about

the parents were not too far away

I do love her frilly petticoat

and with all the darkness about
there was just one little sunbeam lurking . . .

my dog and I walked softly in this hallowed place
our footfall made no sound
our steps no mark at all

it is ligth that makes jewels of raindrops

and thrills us with delight !

TODAY'S FLOWERS - Sheer Madness . . .

With the blessing of the recent rains, the grass around the
house was threatening to eat me up.
Gone are the days when I could use a lawn mower or even
my beloved brush-cutter that did such sterling service in keeping
a number of kilometres of road verge fire safe,
now I was hoping to just cut the grass around my present
abode, with a brush-cutter where I have to yank an electrical
cord around. Found one I can (maybe) manage to lug about
BUT
the same place also has a garden centre . . . a death trap for
the likes of me . . .
can you imagine paying good money to buy heaps of work??

Sure, that's me all over, and I really held myself back and only
bought
10 punnets of seedlings,
a blueberry bush in a small pot
(need to pot it up pronto before I can prepare a place for it),
a passionfruit (ditto)
 and two bare rooted roses
(as though my 150
weren't enough for me

a couple of punnets of stocks for winter cheer

violas, pansies, primulas and lobelias (ditto)

inevitably, another cyclamen, the large leaf to the right is
the passionfruit

darling little violas in shades of pink

and how could I possibly leave these pretty faced pansies behind?

I guess, you've guessed it . . . I couldn't!

My only excuse is that I needed some flowers to post during winter

tee hee hee . . .

SkyWatch Friday - A Colourful Sunset

It is so nice to have clouds in the sky on a regular basis again
they certainly lend a certain  je ne sais quoi
to a sunset.

I do love to see what the sky offers us during the day,
Hope you do too.
