At Seventeen

...those were the days my friend...

Time has marched on and taken it's toll.
now, on the last day when the numbers
can be reversed, the old car has had a
number of overhauls, but refuses to run smoothly.
God willing, a little longer and then the scrap yard
or fertillizer for my roses. At least that's useful.

All our photos were lost in the 1983 bushfires, this is
one of the few remaining of my first 46 years of life.

  2. You were beautiful at seventeen Arija and am sure you are still beautiful - just more matured and with lines showing your character.
Being "old" myself I think elderly faces are far more fascinating than young, unlined ones (well I would say that wouldn't I?)!

  6. A very beautiful picture Arija and one that makes me reflect and wonder how brilliant the stars above you that night may have been with much less light than we have today. :)

I am sorry to hear about the loss of your photos, only a life would be more tragic.

  8. Gorgeous photo arija, it reminds me of some of my mother I have. How awful to lose so many though. I would really hate that.

  9. You looked gorgeous then, and I am sure you do now. Your beauty surely must be one that comes from the inside and reflects on you, no matter that time passes. Many many good years to you, we need people like you on this earth! Thank you for sharing your beauty and your sorrows.

  10. What a great shot of you! I'm so sorry you lost your photos. I scanned all of our old family photos onto the computer and have them on disc just in case. I'm planning to do a calendar and disc for my family so we can all have them.

  11. Arija I am sitting in the same boat; they are not long the days of wine and roses... Your were so beautiful with 17 but now you are only older! I am sorry that you lost all your photos in the bushfire. All the mementos, so sad.

  14. I thought this WAS a movie star when I first saw it... gorgeous photo... So much more style then, don't you think?
We lost all our photos, too, to a tornado (Greensburg Kansas, May 4, 2007)... all my children's school and baby pictures... thankfully we had sent several to other relatives over the years, and they have sent us copies... so we have a few...

Isn't it wonderful that photos you now take will be preserved for your family?
