BIRD PHOTOGRAPHY WEEKLY ~ 11 King Parrot

Please enlarge for a better look.

King Parrot, Alisterus scapularis in the Victorian Alps

These are male King Parrots, I am sorry I could
not manage to get a female as well.

It is quite a large parrot, these two shots were outside
a reataurant so they were quite fearless.

The green plumage is much brighter than it appears
in these shots.

  1. What a beauty! I thought that with parrots male and female had the same colouring. At least I saw it on National Geographic.I might be wrong though. That was interesting for they stick together to their own race.

  2. Wil,
I can only think of one Australian parrot off hand where the male and female are the same colouring and that is the Crimson Rosella.

  15. I wonder why birds where you are are so much more colourful?

I have never seen such contrast or beauty. If I didn't know it was use posting these I would suspect they were altered in photoshop.
