MY WORLD ~ 22 Yeppoon, the Way Back I

Please do enlarge them, it is well worth it.

One more shot from the wetlands at Yeppoon,
Ibis practising synchronised flying.

A daytrip to the Rockhampton Botanical Gardens

Red Dragonfly resting by the Waterlily pond in
the Japanese garden.

Tropical trees are not my speciality, it had no label
but was tall and wide and covered in vermillion
flowers and cheeky Noisy Miner birds.

The Egret rookery, one did have to watch out
from above.

The youngsters were just hangin' round, being bored

what is there to do except scratch yourself?

Hey, something is happening, is that mother ?

False alarm, just an Ibis flapping by!

There she is..Hey mom, down here! Shucks, she
flew right by...

Birds of another feather, a domestic Goose hanging
round with an Ibis and being spied on by a Moor Hen

Some boats high and dry as we said farewell to the
Bat colony on leaving Yeppoon and aiming our car
towards Carnarvon Gorge. Next week if you are patient,
the next exciting episode, a walk in the gorge.

  51. Hi Arija, It is really good to take the time and enlarge the pictures. the Ibis are spectacular, their wings like fancy tutus. The tree with the red flowers is an African tulip tree, Spathodea campanulata. The flowers are stunning but the smell is foetid as it is a relative of the Stapeliads Huernia (carniverous plants).I enjoy the pictures and your comments , it is just like being there!

    ReplyDelete
  52. These are AMAZING photographs. I can't decide which is the best and I'm glad I don't have to!

I do adore the ibis, though. The way you captured the birds flying in a trio. Just gorgeous.

Thanks for the visit to my humble photo blog!

  53. How interesting to compare your birds and plants with ours. We have cattle egrets and blue herons here.

I noticed a persimmon in yesterday's photos. Our native persimmon is not very tasty, but a beautiful tree.

  55. Stunnind as always. I really do enjoy visiting your site every week and being overawed by it all. Thanks for sharing. In answer to your question. No I don't fish as it doesn't appeal to me but quite a few do. Not from the quayside that you can see though I have seen a few young children fishing there but further along the breakwater out to sea. Maybe next week I will post one from there.
