BIRD PHOTOGRAPHY WEEKLY ~ 12 Masked Lapwing

Please scroll down for MY WORLD

Pre-dawn shot of Masked Lapwing, Vanellus miles,
you can just see the spur on his wing on the furthest
forward point of his wing.

in slightly better light. I like the way they call in
flight giving you time to look up.

  8. I can only guess, how difficult it is -- in fact I've had big problems with taking a photo of a flying swift...

  20. Nice shots. I see you call it a Masked Lapwing. In Wikipedia the Spur-winged plover in the souther and eastern states (sub-species of the Masked Lapwing) has a black neck-stripe and smaller wattles. The spur-winged plover in the northern hemisphere is a totally different bird. In "The Hand Guide to Birds of New Zealand it however only refers to the Spur-winged Plover. Mmmm, is mine the Masked Lapwing or the Spur-winged plover - I'm curious now .....
