Skywatch ~ 45 Eight of 110 of one Great Sunrise

Please ENLARGE for your enjoyment.

A sunrise to remember, I have at least 110 shots to
remember it by. Here are a mere eight of them.

By the time I levitated out of bed, grabbed a dressing
gown ... baby, it sure was cold outside ... and grabbed
my camera there was already a fair sunrise brewing....

reflecting colour on the land although still indistinct

back to the main event, the sky was drowning in
red and gold,

as the light grew, I had gathered an audience of two

while the sky to the south gathered gentle pinks and
violets, I had an audience veritably flocking to me

or was it the rising sun that was the main attraction?

Gently, ever so gently, the colours diffused across
the whole sky except where the sun rose in golden
majesty.

  1. AAAAHHHHHHH!

How can this be? How can one be gifted with the loveliest skies every week while I have to contend my self with boring empty white?

I am going to Asheville today and I hope the Blue Ridge mountain will give me something to ooh and aah!

Beautiful skies Arija, perhaps because Heavens know you'll capture them so well and share them with us generously.

  2. There was all the shades of red in your morning. Main and side shows included. I wonder what is cold there? There is so warm atmosphere in these.

  11. What a spectacular sunrise. No wonder you took 110 photos! I'm sure it was hard to select just 8.
Funny that the sheep seemed to be attracted to either you or the sunrise, too.

  12. There is something about sunrise which is so much more exciting than sunset, Arija - maybe it is because it leaves a promise of the day ahead. Lovely photos.

  14. Another beautiful sunrise, Arija. I would have to say my favourites are the two of the sheep with the beautiful warm colours cast over the earth by the sky, and number seven with the pinks and yellows.

  51. Hi Arija, me again;) Thanks for your comment on my grasshopper post last week. I made a slight mistake when quoting the name of the shrike: it's called a Grey-Headed Bush-Shrike and calls like a "spook" In fact its name in Afrikaans (one of the other eleven official languages in South Africa!) is Spookvoel, meaning SpookBird. Aha, re your spraying and getting unwanted guests off your property. Did you see the last laugh is on me? I posted about my "killing spree" on today's blog if you'd like to take a look. Thanks for your beautiful blog which you share - I will have more time to look at it in depth when I get to North Africa in three weeks' time. (((Hugs))) Jo

    Wonderful series! :))
    LOVE the first picture!

  54. I hope that rain comes soon. Some of the ground you have shown is utterly dry. Interestingly, the light browns of the dried grasses go well with the sky.

    ReplyDelete
  55. And the sheep are thinking - 'What is the crazy lady doing standing in the field in her dressing gown with a camera?!' Beautiful sunrise Arija :)
