Wild Bird Wednesday - Snake Time and Kookaburras

The temperatures are rising so watch out for snakes!
Time for boots, loose trousers and Kookaburras.
So lucky they like snakes for lunch.

I was lucky to have a pair serenade me right in front of my
bedroom door. Even so, I was not quick enough to capture both.

Don't you just love the monk's cap to cover his bald spot?

I'll be posting birds occasionally when they visit me since I have
been tied by the heels and am unable to visit them for a while yet.

  4. Lovely of those birds to visit you! Not much more you could ask of a bird ... they are cute as can be, they eat snakes, and they pose for pictures.

  13. Hi there - I think serenade may be a little strong!! But I know what you mean.

Hope the heel tying does not last too long.

Cheers and thanks for linking to WBW

  19. I think I'd like the Kookaburras since they dine on snakes - like our Roadrunners do in the western U.S. ;-)

  20. Love those beautiful Kookaburras. We have some at our zoo, but certainly not like your being able to see them in the wild of nature. Hugs for you~

  22. I learned something new today. I did not know Kookaburra's liked snakes. I have only seen them in zoo's. It would be really neat to see them out in the wild. Loved the photos!

  24. I remember the woman across the road where we lived in the riverland, mortified as a snake slithered out of her young daughter's bedrooom!!! It went outside and was never found. There were heaps of snakes and heaps of kookaburras looking for them, and yes we definitely dressed appropriately for rambles in the bush - the bush ants were another reason for the heavy footwear too.

  25. I always wanted a pet mongoose to keep the snakes away - until I discovered that Kookaburras do the same thing!! All I have to work out now is how to keep them around ...
