OUR WORLD & Wild Bird Wednesday

Another year gone down the gurgler. I cannot say I am sorry
to see it go, it has not been one of the better years I have known.

A young Galah demolishing the golden flowers on our
sizeable Grevillea robusta.

TV antennae make handy perches for Kookaburras, singly

or in pairs

and a big thank you to all those who visit and comment
on my humble blog. You all have made this faded year bearable for me.

The above photo of yours truly is a byproduct of my son instructing
me in the use of an added flash on my camera.
Every time my photographer son comes to visit, I glean a
little more of the art of photography.

May this New Year of 2013 be a year of Peace
so sorely needed in this strife torn world.

  15. Galahs we get in plenty, but we rarely see the kookaburras now - which makes me very sad. Thank you for sharing these.
I love the self portrait, and am grateful to you son.
I hope the New Year is full of love and laughter - the two things I think are among the most important in the world.

  25. Hello Arija! That is a very beautiful photograph of you! I am sorry it has been a faded year for you. Losing someone you love is so very painful, but I hope the good memories will nourish your spirit as you head into a hopefully easier 2013.

A great portrait of you too! Happy New Year!

  27. Kookaburras do seem to love antennas and bare trees - esp dead ones! Surprising when they are supposed to be addicted to gum trees! Great photos!

  28. You are a beautiful lady Arija! It is so nice to see you and I too would like to thank your son for the photo. How nice to have a son who is knowledgeable about photography! The bird photos are lovely. Once again I wish you A Very Happy and Healthy Year. May it be your happiest one yet. From Denise in Virginia x

  30. Love the kookaburras, and a lovely portrait of you. You're never to old to learn new things, and wonderful that your son is helping you. As for your request for photos of the aurora borealis, I would love to do that for you, but I haven't mastered that skill yet. I keep thinking about learning how to do it, but the best time for shooting is in the wee hours of the morning, and clear nights are most often very cold. Maybe one of these nights.... If you do a google search it will pop up with hundreds of fantastic images. I wish you the very best in the coming year!

  31. I thought the wire things on our houses were just for the birds - they have another function??

Nice pictures. Hope 2013 is better for you in particular and the world in general.

Cheers and thanks for linking to WBW.
