TODAY'S FLOWERS & I Heart Macro - Little BLue Flutterbies

My garden, or at least the few flowers that bloom,
are covered with little blue-grey butterflies

just about every one of my chrysanthemum
flowers has one or two of them
sipping nectar for all they are worth

sweet little things fluttering about the bush
like smoke

SkyWatch - Changing Clouds

There they were,
cumulo-stratus and cumulo-nimbus
going their separate ways
at SPEED

the upper level cumulo-stratus
were moving like bats out of hell
although they seemed to be standing still

because the cumulo-nimbus
were doing their thing at speed as well

and like winking there were, only a few white fluffy things
visible in that tiny window of blue on the left
(it pays to enlarge if you want to see them)

and the prettily coloured  but stingy cumulo-nimbus
refusing to let a single drop grace my thirsty garden.

Hey everybody, whatever happened to 400 people
linking with this meme that has been going for so long??

There is a whole history of people starting and hosting it
over the years so let's get behind it and
SHOW US YOUR SKIES!

Wild Bird Wednesday & Nature Notes - Yellow-rumped Thorntail

This little Thornbill was making so much noise in my birthday
tree that finally even I could spot it

with the help of my monopod I managed to hold my
500mm lens steady enough to get some
recognisable images

cute tiny birdie isn't he?

busily picking off the tiniest insects all over the tree

and chattering away like a pack of monkeys

doing some acrobatics

and telling me in no uncertain terms to buzz off
with my camera.

I like the total camouflage effect with the white spots on it's
head against the tree rind.

OUR WORLD - Horses

Driving up the hill to go out
three of our horses galloped up to see
where I was going

by the time I stopped
they too had, a pity since
their gallop had been so exuberant.

TODAY'S FLOWERS & I Heart Macro - " Look into my heart my love and see . ."

My roses are at their best in autumn
meet the UNICEF 'Children's Rose'

pink and pretty,
hardy, pest free and continuous flowering
with a heady perfume . . .

what more can one ask for?

'Jude the Obscure'
how can one go past a perfect rose with a name like that?
No-one knows where the name comes from
it does sound as though it was names for a saint
with the softest heart

wonderfully scented and my absolute favourite

when the petals fall, the rose reveals it's very soul,

I hope our's is just as beautiful.

and getting the camera for

and snapping away for like one happy bunny.

Hope your's was as pretty

Wild Bird Wednesday - Welcome Swallow

Unusual for autumn, this swallow is trilling away
overhead

just like the goldfinch in spring
the swallow followed me from one end of the house to the other
as I worked in the garden

continuing it's song and hardly missing a note

a perfect time for weeding
and so much nicer when being serenaded.

OUR WORLD - Latest Family Addition

Recently while granddaughter helped a friend on a farm
the farm cat had 7 kittens.

One died and a day later, this one was rejected
and naturally

it ended up on our farm with granny baby sitting.

granny was busy putting a book together
on her computer
and having her fingers chewed off
did not help

so o o
great granny took over and soon had Joda sleeping

 not for long though

glad I was wearing my gardening apron,
those little pins are just a tad on the sharp side

happily, g-granny's hot hands are soporific
and Joda could get back to napping and visibly growing,

Oh dear, that makes 8 cats
luckily granddaughter has them all desexed.

TODAY'S FLOWERS & I Heart Macro - Wet and Wonderful

The little bit rain we had has made
a huge difference to the garden

Colchicum (autumn crocus) are making
bright patches among the weeds . . .

the wet makes them fade quickly
but if you pick a few, they last for a week indoors

the passionfruit vine is covered in blooms

most unusual in autumn but
I'm not complaining

they are such a joy to see
in fact, the whole garden is
as if it were spring

even I seem to have more spring in my step

Watery Wednesday & Skywatch - Glorious Fog

We had some glorious rain this week

and now are enveloped in equally glorious fog
as long as the air is moist, the garden flourishes

A big thank you to all of you who came by.
I have been rather time restricted
with my brother-in-law here for a week from Colorado
to strew the last of his brothers ashes.

Life is a very fragile thing
enjoy it now while you have if.

TODAY'S FLOWERS & I Heart Macro - Spring in Autumn

"The time is out of joint" . . . Hamlet

where seasons stand upon their head
autumn has become spring
trees that managed to retain their leaves in summer
are in full bloom
those that dropped them in summer's extreme heat
are leaping into leafage like spring lambs
autumn crocus and grape hyacinths
dance hand in hand in garden beds

the seasons are in revolt and arbitrarily change
from day to day

the world as we knew it has gone on holiday
and in it's place we have
'Earth in Upheaval'

pink crabapple in full bloom,
better than I have ever seen it in springtime

the paddocks are greening with our first autumn rain
and we are crossing our fingers for more

meanwhile I enjoy these 'darling buds of May'
and the fabulous flush of flowers in my rose garden
as I dig up potatoes for my lunch.
