The flower of the Persimmon is hard to see,
it is leaf green and hidden in the leaf joint. If you
look closely, you can see the forming fruit in the centre.
The ripe Persimmon is a glowing orange and
deliciously sweet to eat.
Grevillea robusta is a native Australian tree growing
to a great height and covered in spring with golden
flowers delighting a profusion of Honeyeaters.
A closer view worth enlarging in the glow of late
afternoon light.

Hmmm... my favorite one is the glowing orange persimmon.. =)
ReplyDeleteOh, what beautiful plants and fruit! And what beautiful photos! The colors are breathtaking, particularly when you enlarge them! One of the many fun things about blogging is getting to not only meet like minded people from other countries, but to learn more about their environment, plants, trees! It just takes my breath away every day! Thanks, Arija! for all that you contribute!
ReplyDeleteWith the exception of the Persimmon, I've never heard of any of these trees.
ReplyDeleteI think ripe persimmons are one of the loveliest fruits just to look at. I don't think I've ever eaten one, but perhaps I'll give it a try, if I can stand to cut into it!
ReplyDeleteThe photographs are stunning, as always. You seem to capture the essence of a thing. The first photo was my favorite, though it's hard to pick. I like the idea of promise that it holds.
ReplyDeleteThose terracottas and oranges! Such perfectly delicious colour!!
ReplyDeleteFabulous pictures.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,Ruth

I've never seen a persimmon, what a lovely color it is!
ReplyDeleteInteresting colors there, especially of the fruit. I have yet to try persimmon if I come across soon. Do you know what it tastes like?
ReplyDeleteI agree that the last photo is my favourite!! Australia has as many different flowers and trees as it does animals, but we think of the animals first! I like the way all the colours in this post follow the same theme!
ReplyDeleteAnd Zach in the next post is a handsome fellow! At least you made his life better for a while, even if he is gone now.
I love the colors of the robusta, and how lush they look. The persimon is quite unique too.
ReplyDeleteThe flower IS hard to see. Luckily someone - probably a bee - found it to fertilize it!
ReplyDeleteLovely to see the persimmon small and ripe! Beautiful trees as well.
ReplyDeleteHummm! the second image looks like delicious to me!!!!

ReplyDeletePaz
Yum, persimmon.
ReplyDeleteThe orange flowers on that huge tree look like feathers.
Am watching a PBS special about endangered Australian frogs. The Caraba (maybe spelled wrong) is a vivid yellow and black and being breed in captivity. Another statistic from the drought.
Beautiful colours especially as we are the middle of a snow storm here!
ReplyDeleteWow!! The Persimmon is so beautiful and glowing. A very interesting fruit. MB
ReplyDeleteArija the Grivillia tree would be awesome to see up close! Certainly fiery blossoms!!

ReplyDeleteYour persimmons are delightful and tasty looking. I love the grevillea, I have been looking of one that I could grow at the farm there is a tropical nursery but I am concerned that my microclimate is just a little colder than his.
