Pre-dawn shot of Masked Lapwing, Vanellus miles,
you can just see the spur on his wing on the furthest
forward point of his wing.
in slightly better light. I like the way they call in
flight giving you time to look up.
what wonderful shots of this bird in flight...
ReplyDeleteExcellent snaps of the bird in the flight.

ReplyDeleteNeat bird! Lapwings are among my favorites, but I'd never heard of this species before. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteHow did You do it? The bird is almost on the altitude of the camera.
ReplyDeleteI can only guess, how difficult it is -- in fact I've had big problems with taking a photo of a flying swift...
ReplyDeleteExcelent photo of a bird in flight!
ReplyDeleteYou're very quick with your camera - beautiful shots. And you know all the names of the birds - amazing.
ReplyDeleteNice photos. I also enjoyed your autumn pictures but I'm glad we're into spring and not fall.
ReplyDeleteNot familiar with this bird at all but he's beautiful as you've caught him.
ReplyDeleteLovely in-flight shots; it's a handsome bird!

ReplyDeleteNice photos, and a great bird too.

ReplyDeleteLovely snaps are they like plovers?
ReplyDeleteWonderful shots and what a beautiful color to the sky behind it.
ReplyDeleteFlight images are not easy. Nice ones. I like his name.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous in flight captures Arija!
ReplyDeleteNice shots. I see you call it a Masked Lapwing. In Wikipedia the Spur-winged plover in the souther and eastern states (sub-species of the Masked Lapwing) has a black neck-stripe and smaller wattles. The spur-winged plover in the northern hemisphere is a totally different bird. In "The Hand Guide to Birds of New Zealand it however only refers to the Spur-winged Plover. Mmmm, is mine the Masked Lapwing or the Spur-winged plover - I'm curious now .....
