We were up on Mt.Lofty in our 3 acre garden the
other day and spotted this sweet little Superb Blue
Wren in glorious mating plumage. His little body is
only about walnut sized.
He was in pretty dark shrubbery so these were the
best shots I could get.

Oh it's the most beautiful blue ever, like cobalt or lapiz lazuli, my favorite shade and pigment! You are truly an observant person. I often wondered why I did not see birds before and then I started looking for them and discovered that they were everywhere!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beauty that is.. love the colouring. Our Wrens are really tini birds and speckled browns
ReplyDeleteIf you get time nip over and meet Ammon Wrigley then read his poem The Homestead

Most of these are birds I haven't ever seen physically. The shots are so glorious that I want to be in those surroundings.. to be able to capture them in my camera!
ReplyDeleteWhat a startling shade of blue! We have mountain blue birds but they are not that intensely blue. Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThey are lovely birds, Arija, and the only time I have really seen them up close was with friends who imitated their call and then they all came hopping around our feet. A truly great experience!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful bird! Your day was blessed.
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous Blue Wren Arija! Amazing colors on that breeding male!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful blue that wren is! Our wrens tend to be much more drab (think brown leaves and camoflage) but I love them just the same.
ReplyDeleteI would love it if we had birds like that, their color is so vivid. They really stand out against the bark of the tree.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful little blue wren. Thanks for introducing him to me.
ReplyDeleteWhat lovely little birds! And that is the loveliest shade of blue ever! What delightful shots, Arija!
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!
Sylvia

I´ve read about!!!
Never seen a blue wren before, and although small and trying to hide, its color sure stands out.
ReplyDeleteObviously a male with all that beautiful, bright plumage!
ReplyDeleteWow..that is as bright as our blue jays.....I hope you are doing OK Arija.... Michelle
