for quite some time.
This colourful Rosella I spotted in the Australian Alps
in New South Wales,
while by way of contrast, this Emu wandered by in the
Little Desert National Park in the flat lands between
Adelaide and Melbourne.
The Emu is quite a large bird, the second largest in the country
and can easily look you in the eye if you are between 5' - 6'.
I for one do not like being up close and personal with them as
they have a flat head on top with a brain the size of a pea and
can be rather unpredictable.

The Rosella is striking. I saw emus in South Africa and although smaller than the ostriches they can inflict some damage.

I know what you mean about big birds...I lived in Florida a while and had to get used to herons and pelicans being so big!

The birds in Australia don't stop to amaze me. They are more colourful than ours and some, like the emu are much bigger than ours.
