World Bird & Watery Wednesday ~ At the Seaside

Flying high at sunrise, what else is there for a silver gull,
Chroicocephalus novaehollandiae to do?

Maybe sitting on our balcony rail hoping for a handout!

A white-faced heron, Egretta novaehollandiae, looking for
his breakfast . . .

oh well, nothing doing that way, time to turn around . . .

.
Pacific gull, Larus pacificus, a baby of our second largest gull.

A young seagull staring hopefully into the super clear water.

Mature adult flying at some distance from me

and, lucky last, some liquid eye candy.

  1. How could you not love this place? It is a little piece of heaven on earth. I love the sea. I was born near the sea. Unfortunately it is not a sea as beautiful as this. People trashed it and it swallows people, especially little children and traps them in muck, tidal pools and sink holes! I love the sea but I am afraid of the water. Does that make sense? I can appreciate the sea while safely afoot on land.

water is always to be approached with respect. Whether it is drinking water that needs to be kept clean or floods or tsunamis. It is not at all odd that you are wary of the sea, it is an ever moving force field that, when benign, will feed you and just give you joy but can just as easily kill you too.

I wonder what next too?? Do let me know where it is heading . . .

Hey I was really proud of my last shot with the sand ripples gleaming through the water. Aren't I silly? It is little things like that that make my day.

  13. You are absolutely right. I respect the water. Actually nature for that matter. It is beautiful but may turn sinister at any moment. The last picture is the image in the new idiom dictionary for "Picture-perfect".

Word verif. I am not making this up, I swear: mayte

  32. Those ripples in the water--last photo, I had to come view them. You are so right. They are enough to "make your day". I even stretch my brain (Hah!) a bit and see daybreak just beginning to hit sands somewhere over the Sahara.
