World Bird Wednesday - A new Visitor

This little sweetie was grazing in the little tree just outside my
room. The nearest identification I could find is a female Gilbert's
Whistler, Pachycephala inornata, about the size of a New Holland
Honey-eater. I hope Stewart M or Tony C can double check for me.

The markings on the flight feathers were quite distinctive

and the pale eye-ring as well.

Here is just one more shot for good measure. I found her
quite charming.

Thank you Stewart M for confirming my initial ID at the top
of this post.

All enlarge of course.

Do click on the World Bird Wednesday Logo and join in with
what flies around your way or browse a bit and get the birdwatching bug!

  6. Great photos and a beautiful little bird. You were fortunate it sat still and let you see and photograph it from different angles.

  7. Hi there - think you are correct with the ID - other similar species, Red-Lored, is rare.

The parrots are another set of shots from Magnetic Island.
