The start of a new year and my memories go back to happier
times when my husband and I would take autumn trips to
the Victorian Hightlands and birds different from home

A King Parrot, nervously sizing up the feeder,
not at all happy with my presence

taking heart and cautiously nibbling at a seed or two

finally he got quite used to me and gobbled up all the food.

I hope the coming year will be a better one than the last with the
loss of my husband and two dear friends.

The older we get, the more we cherish the people who share
our memories.

Wishing you all the Happiest of New Years!

PS . . . Oh, HAPPY DAY!!! The young pullets which have been
indeterminately sitting on a clutch of eggs gleaned from
my granddaughter's bantams that lay blue eggs,
have produced a chick.!!!!

I am ecstatic and live in hopes of more.

HI Arija Although you have had sad times last year, I amsure you also have wonderful happymemories so as 2014 starts I hope you will have less sad times in your life and many more happy moments. I love the shots of the King Parrot. I only saw them a few times when I was in Australia. Be blessed in 2014

  12. I know so many that were challenged by personal sadness last year - including myself. But somehow, the thought of another journey in another new day energises the spirit. Your king parrot is certainly a striking character. And the chick is such a wonderful sign of fresh beginnings.
