Such a tiny pot holds so much beauty
brought forth by the experienced hand of
the wise grower
My dear friend John certainly has the magic touch
his orchids flower all year round
dancing ladies in their Christmas finery
orchids are such diverse plants, these remind one
of the delicate flowers of a tree begonia
any lady would look dressy with a sprig of these in her corsage
I feel like cupping these delicately tinted petals in my hands
but the most splendid for me is this virginal white
with pure gold in it's heart
I can but sigh and wish to emulate John's prowess
meanwhile . . .dream on . . .

ReplyDeleteSusanne, we all have our drawbacks, our's is the lack of water coupled with extreme heat. This week we are due for 5 days straight of 105+ F and I am in danger of loosing half my garden, fruit and citrus trees included/
DeleteThese are wonderful .. and your friend is very talented to get them to grow all year round.. I did orchids today too, but your photos are so much better. I had a corsage of the ones in the second photo once (a million years ago) for a prom.

ReplyDeleteThey are fragile looking. I've had no luck with orchids. But have seen some of yours looking quite fetching. Seems John has a lot of knowledge to share.

DeleteOh yes they are all very delightful, but i prefer that first one, Oncidium. You're right, so plenty and beautiful even in that very small pot.
ReplyDeleteAndrea, I also love the tiny Oncidiums though, as yet, the have none. I do have a couple of very charming Sarcochilus though.

ReplyDeleteArija - These are dreamy! I carried a small bouquet of orchids only wedding day (a long time ago!). I also have a couple in the house but never quite know if/when they are going to bloom.
