After a wild and wooly night where the hail drumming on his
kennel had the dog flee his post as guard dog for the chickens
and flee to the safety of the verandah where he could be
close to me.
In a brief brake in the weather I braved the foot deep slush
in the dip of our newly graded road.
The council, in it's wisdom, has a habit of grading our dirt
road just before big rains are expected.
All the disturbed dirt washes down into the dip in the road
creating a real driving hazard.
Stopped at the chemist's,
view in front of my car
and looking the other way.
Half a car length behind me there was a tiny spot where I could
cross to the footpath without filling my shoes.
I really appreciate the bounty from the sky,
it is just a bit difficult to keep warm enough.

ReplyDeleteIt's raining here after the temps rising to the high30's. We sure are warm, but still wet. Those are great reflections in the puddles.

We have had some sunny days after some rain last week. Cool reflections in the puddles. Have a happy week ahead!
ReplyDeleteIn some places that would be known as a flood. I hope most of it soaks into the ground as it is needed! Keep your toes dry! (I can stand quite a bit of chill as long as my feet are warm ... not a big fan of being out in the rain.)
ReplyDeleteGreat captures Arija. Love those reflections! As for keeping warm, I can recommend thermal clothing - it's not bulky, is light but very effective. (available from Kathmandu outlets)

Pretty reflections in the big puddle. We, too, have had way too much rain with flooding on all the rivers, farm fields, and roads.

ReplyDeleteLovely photos--lovely to look at but not so lovely to deal with the puddles. We finally got a couple of inches of rain after being very tinder dry since breakup. The moisture was much needed, but put the river at flood stage, with a few flooded roads.
