SkyWatch - Tonight's evening sky

Feeding and locking up the chickens at night has it's
compensations.

I hope these clouds stick around for tomorrow,
temps. are set to skyrocket again

Westward sky across the paddock behind my house

our faraway paddock on the Eastern side
all lit up and pretty

the last rays of the sun catching one of the stock-water tanks.

Hope you all have easy weather to live with.

SkyWatch - Early morning ride

Early in the morning when I fed the chickens
I spied my roses flowering in winter,
lighting up the fog

By the time we were finished at the Farmers' Market,
the sky was blue and clouds came rolling in

fun to watch and drive by shoot
since my daughter drove me

in my new, second hand UTE.

The white clouds were rising and the grey ones coming down
and by the time we got home,
it had clouded over.

No complaints, we really need the rain.

SkyWatch " I find I don't know clouds a-at all . . ."

A barking Dachshund with a dark tail

doing backflips

cutting the blue sky in half

oh do make up your mind, are you pink and pretty
or grey and threatening

or with a big fat belly?

SkyWatch - Surprise from Heaven

Light through scattered clouds

well, with just a little bit more cloud

resolving into nothing much

when, half inch hailstones smashed into the tulips
and lilac at it's best
that's spring for you, when something is perfect, boom

half an hour later, they were fluffy and innocent

like a fluffy monster swimming on a lake of clear water

or a pink iceberg.

Ah, the vagaries of weather!

SkyWatch - 'I find I don't know clouds . .at all'

Does anyone of us know the nature of clouds,
can anyone predict their shape?

I certainly cannot, I can only appreciate their wonder.

Afterglow, gentle, yet alluringly dreamlike
with it's shadows

Klick to enlarge, they grow on you . . .

Watch the clouds, they are delightfully impartial
and never bite back.

SkyWatch - Sunshine and Shadow

Rain bearing clouds looming over my paddocks
Sunlight illuminates the autumnal gold of silver poplars

clouds move and cast shadows
heavy cold rains are limiting to gardening
but oh so wonderful for the trees that have struggled
over a number of years.

SkyWatch - Wind and Eye Candy

Just a few interesting visible wind phenomena,

a contrail twisted by an upper atmosphere wind stream

oops, this is a bit of a ring-in, I saw some crows flying overhead,
did a fast reaction body twist and snap . . . gotcha!

A layer of cloud sweeping in,

can you see the associated wind turbulence that is whipping up
the clouds into a frothing surf?

When the wind does that at ground level where you cannot
see it, it can toss and topple a plane on landing,
not pleasant for anyone. Airports at some locations are closed
and all traffic diverted under such conditions.

Enough of the lesson in meteorology, here is some gentle
eye candy, just some cumulo-nimbus at sunset.

Don't you just love watching the sky?

I do.

OUR WORLD - Hope

I had occasion to go to town at the weekend,
stopped at the lights, I saw some hope in these
nice dark clouds . . .

we eventually did get a spot of rain, even on the other side
of the range, but not nearly enough.

SkyWatch - Happiness is . . . Clouds

Oh the joy of seeing a few clouds in the sky!

Looking at the skyline on the hill behind my house.

A gentle hush of pink just south west of the sunset.

SkyWatch - Where, oh where is the silver lining?

Finally, the camera came outside with me for a few minutes

but I am still desperately looking for that elusive silver lining . . .

SkyWatch - Sunset Clouds

I tried to catch the golden lining to the clouds but it was too
bright . . .

so I caught the fluffy clouds against the blue

and some bare trees

but could not resist zooming in to the main event.

My heart goes out to all the folks in Colorado who have lost their homes,
I have been in the same boat. I hope with all my heart that you get a good thunderstorm to douse the fires.

God bless you all.

SkyWatch ~ Raindance Clouds

A brief rain had cleared the air and something in the light
caught my eye . . .

as I looked, the clouds performed a mad dance rising

and swirling

madly circling the rising thunderhead

just a brief pause with gentlest of hues

and off into the mad, exhilarating dance once more.

Whatever the sky is up to where you are, do share it on SkyWatch!

SkyWatch ~ Yet Another Sunset

Time to see what the sky is doing and what better way to try
out my new camera. Here are some of the first ten shots I took.

I just went outside to shoot at anything and the sky decided
to put on quite a little show for me.

The clouds changed their character virtually in moments,
creating an unexpected softness,

only to blush a deeper red the next instant.

Hope you all can enjoy whatever the heavens bring your way
and share it with the rest of us on SkyWatch Friday!

SkyWatch ~ Drive-by Shooting

I'm 700km from home and on the way here I popped off a few
at the sky as we sped along towards Melbourne.

On my side of the car I was accompanied by a lion? . . . a boar??

A little further along there was quite a bit going on in front
of that glorious blue backdrop

and then the fun started. The season of rainbows had arrives.

There were six different ones in all. Not quite as spectacular
as a trip we took a few years ago where we had 13!

The road, the railway line, the silo and the main attraction,
another rainbow!

I wish you all at least a rainbow or two, if not, enlarge mine
and enjoy.

I thank the diminished SkyWatch Team for keeping this meme going
against all odds.
