OUR WORLD, My LIfe - Christmas, the Happy and the Sad

The Advent wreath was sagging a little after four weeks but
the stars still gleamed in full splendour.

At our house we keep the old European tradition of
celebrating Christmas on Christmas Eve.
The stars are all handmade by my daughter and granddaughters.

The tree is trimmed at dusk with both granddaughters on the job
decking it's full 15' height with traditional glass decorations, some
over 60 years old, that I had shared with my daughter when she
left home which preserved them from the As Wednesday
bush fires that consumed our house a few months later.

Everyone was happy, including the animals

The presents had to wait till after the Christmas feast
of which this is just a small sample.

A gentle Christmas with everyone ecstatic about their
presents and just glad to be together. The room was filled with
love and laughter.

The one sad note was that my second chick, that was doing so well,
died in the afternoon and left me sad and bereft.

To all of you out there who celebrate Christmas, may this be one
filled with love and the joy of togetherness!

HAPPY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!!

TODAY'S FLOWERS ~ A Traditinal Christmas

I hope you my bloggy friends had just as wonderful
a Christmas as we did.

The house on the mountain was polished and dressed
up within an ounce of its life.

The musicians having a last practice while the tree was being
trimmed.

The Prof and our son's youngest thoroughly enjoying themselves.

Hilarity at table with musical bon bons. Everyone had a numbered
whistle of the eight notes of the scale, one conducted from a
provided score, pointing at whoever needed to blow. The tempo
at times was uncertain but at least the tunes were recognizable
as we all worked up an appetite for the feast.

Thereafter, as the Christmas bell rang, a pilgrimage to the
music room and the candle lit tree. We even had some sparklers
on it, when I was little we called them wonder candles.

Then came the presents and youngest g-daughter was thrilled
with her very own viola and played on it straight away. During
the year she had been learning on a hired instrument.

On Christmas day it was back to the farm and another, even
bigger tree and more peresents, another feast, and

to top it all off, another work of art fron our daughter's
youngerst, A perfect cherry flan! Just delicious.

Not so Plain Plane

All photos enlarge, just click on them.

I had to go to the village to see my super human
doctor, we are so priviledged to have not only a
Hospital, but also a Medical Clinic next door.
Nothing serious, just one of my regular check ups.
Being there anyway I popped down to the main street
to fish some money fron the bank and came out to see
this wonder right above my car.

Camera being welded to hand as always, it was a snap!

The blue sky, the autumn leaves and bobbles of seed,
Did we really have to drive over 2,000 miles and more
to see more wonders than these?
Hang on to your hats, come back for My World on Tuesday
for the spectacular!

Me, I smiled all the way home after feasting my eyes
on this Plane tree in the street.
