Last Sunday we had occasion to go to the Barossa Valley,
one of our premier wine growing districts. No, we did not
go for the wines but rather to a book launch.
The day was blustery to say the least, at times we
could not hear the speaker with microphone for the
wind gusts buffeting the building.
The air was crisp and clear and the sky above as blue
as blue with white clouds chasing each other about,
just for the fun of it. The countryside was lush and green,
a balm to the eyes after the long dry and sere summer
and autumn.
A perfect day for a drive in the
country until we stopped at the top of Trial Hill
and looked back towards the valley we had left and
saw these dark an ominous clouds chasing us home.
Unfortunately it was all play and no pay and not a drop
of rain did we get.

ReplyDeleteLove the cloud shadow on the hill - it almost looks like it shouldn't be there, the cloud looks like it's touching the hill, and leaving no room for a shadow!

To answer your questions, Spring officially starts on Sept.1, for me it starts whenever nature determines. The trees are flowering and the temperatures are in the 20's C . Last year we flipped from Winter straight into Summer'
ReplyDeleteWe only had rain in mid-winter and the landscape has greened up since then. The grass looks velvety because it is so short. In cold weather it sprouts but does not grow much. Those hills were brown from Oct. to July.
All except the last shot were taken from a fast moving vehicle, I just could not help myself, the sky and hills were so pretty.

The clouds are great, but the field is more splendid. The whole image looks very serene. It inspires one to write a poem or a song.

It's hard to imagine a blustery day... it's been so hot, but we are getting a little cooler here. Your skies for the book launch, at least looked amazing! Gorgeously blue!
