While on our recent trip to Sydney, we had to cross
many miles of New South Wales' erstwhile gold country,
now gleaming with a different gold that rewards one's
labour with a little more certainty.
With the blue hills surrounding this wealth of gold,
I could have, like Dorothy, happily sunk down into
a hundred year sleep...woops, seems my bedtime
stories are getting tangled.
The road side weed, Echium plantagenium, covered
the road verges just in time for a welcome colour change.
All photos enlarge so you too may be blinded with gold.

I am sure this sea of gold is like a world of sunshine and I see the bees heading for it to be bathed in all that pollen!! Blue flowers are simply perfect to post with this!
ReplyDeleteArija, such beautiful pics. The yellow and blue is such a beautiful and promising combination.
ReplyDeleteI love driving through the canola and mustard seed fields in the spring on the Canadian prairies. I too could lay down in them and get lost in sleep.
Have a great week.

Gorgeous! I love seeing flowers, always, but now that there are NONE around me, ahhhhh.
ReplyDeleteArija, some of these photos look like northen Maine in summer when the rape seed is in bloom. Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteWow, these are two of my favorite colors together. What is the gold?
ReplyDeleteThat's just an amazing expanse of gold. Beautiful! The purple flowers are a nice accent.
ReplyDeleteWow, gold you bet. Some kind of crop?
ReplyDeleteFabulous photos Arija. I love 'rape' as we call it in the UK. In Spring it is all over the countryside. We used to play a car game and shout 'rape' every time we spotted a field! Such are memories made.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful images...Golden delights...how wonderful to reach a crest and view a field of gold...we see that in Ohio when the soybean fields turn yellow
ReplyDeleteOMG, this is AMAZING. What type of plants are these? I at first I thought they were golden rod, but then I saw that you said it was in Sydney...
