Shadow Shot Sunday ~ Saving Seeds

Both reflection in my dressingtable mirror and shadow from
the early morning light.

You might think I'm nuts to have my camera next to me even
when I sleep - I have told you before that it was my hand extension.

  1. Arija, this is most beautiful. I seldom get poppies that are large enough to save the seedheads. Soil, weather and all.
I covet these! (in a healthy way, of course!)

  4. Hi Arija! I've just cleaned my garden and taken out all the old poppies and I took off the seedheads for I want to sow the seed and have poppies next year.

  6. The shape lens itself to the early morning sun and a stunning shadow. The camera must be with you at all times to capture such beauty - or is this shot in a dream??

  8. Stylish!
I don't have my camera sleeping next me - yet! :)

    I have moved to WordPress!
I hope to see you there.
Next week I'll be back on track and post a 'normal' SSS post.

    Sunny greetings from Casa!

  11. Nice effect...You asked about sunflower seeds and the health of birds. Wild birds will always go after insect protein first and then to the seeds so there isn't a concern....good question...Michelle

  17. You have a lovely blog.

I have never seen poppy seed heads, even though poppies are the national california flower.

    This is an amazing shot.

  22. Lovely! I was just today delighting unwitting non-gardening friends with dried poppy seed pods in my garden. Those little salt shakers they make are brilliant.

  23. I have never seen poppies in real life. I need to do so. What a dramatic image, the top one! Isn't it amazing that even if we have not seen it in person, we readily identify it?

  26. Reminds me of my childhood, my Mum always used to save the dried poppy heads from the garden after they had scattered their seeds.
