SkyWatch ~ Darkening skies

One evening at Arno Bay on the Eyre Peninsula in South
Australia, the sky looked quite promising for an interesting
sunset . . . giving a whole new meaning to pole sitting . . .

Clouds were gathering and showing a nice touch of colour,

until just a few too many arrived and the light found it
difficult to break through

and a few minutes later it started to pour. I just managed
to tuck my camera safely under my jacket and arrived at
our lodging absolutely dripping.

There are brilliant skies all around the world just waiting for you
to appreciate them. Do click on the Logo to join in or just to look around.

  8. Arija, I just love that shot fo the pelican agaisnt the darkening sky. I saw a special on the pelicans of Austrailia on our local PBS station. It was fascinating.

So sorry I have been absent for so long. I haven't forgotten you! thanks for Identifying the St. John's wort flower for me!

BTW, you asked me about the Nikon D80 quite awhile back. Well, it is a very good camera but can be a bit heavy to carry around. Still, with the 70-300mm lens, I can get most bird shots I want without having to use a tripod. Sometimes I do find it a bit hard to lift and hold steady. I need to do more push-ups I guess! LOL! I still have so much to learn about it. I know I am not using it to its full potential.

  18. Great to have news from you Arija. Have you noticed my very poorly photographed header pic?? Taken 2 weeks ago at the Westmount Summit! If you look hard enough, you may even see my parents' house, near St. Lambert, on the South Shore. hehe. I took this photo for you... hope you like it. Take care.

  19. If it wasn't entirely the wrong season, I'd swear that pelican was doing its shift on CFS bushfire watch! Good that the Eyre Peninsula is getting so much rain.Nice work with the camera Arija - thanks for your recent visit and much appreciated comment.

  23. These are really exquisite cloud photos, Arija.

I was very interested in your comment on my blog about flood irrigation being wasteful and am off to research newer kinds of irrigation methods. They have started covering the ditches that deliver the water to the fields, and that saves water.
