a tired gardener's complaint

I feed and weed and do my best
to prune in June and all the rest
cart buckets brimming full of water
although I know full well I shouldn't oughter
work never ending seems a chore
*
yet as I rise from sore bent knees
I see the flowers sniff the scented breeze
bees swarm around me somewhere trills a bird
the grass tells stories no-one else has heard
and courage once more in me flows
from all the things my garden grows.

  2. Thank you for stopping and commenting :)

You have beautiful photos of your flowers. Now, I thought that it was your winter? I need to look up some geography info on your part of the world.

And, I love the names of those roses. I had Abraham Darby at my old place and now have Graham Thomas (going through its second bloom), Winchester Cathedral and another whose name I can't remember!

I need to get more (I'd love Tess of the D'Urbervilles if only for the name).

  10. Dearest Gwen, there is nothing like sunrise fog for softening flowers. More will follow some other time. Did you notice the great ball of pollen on the bee's leg?
I send you a very warm hug.
