SkyWatch *19 Around the Compass

Where ever you look, the clouds burst forth
to South, East, West or North.
Which of these clouds do you like best,
The East, North, South or West?

EAST

NORTH

SOUTH

WEST

Straight off the camera they came
I only added directional name,
and with a little time delay,
here is the sunrise that same day.

To Klaus and the rest of the SkyWatch team
my thanks for organizing this meme.

Ringing in the New Year

Ring in the New Year, let echoes resound!

Let New Year Bells
ring loud and clear
for all those near
and far to hear
let Peace descend
from Heaven above
to banish strife
from this Earth we love.

With Hope in our hearts
let us greet the new dawn
and welcome the year
that is being born.

To all my friends and those yet to be
a Happy New Year for you and for me!

MY WORLD ~ 10 Coffin Bay, South Australia

Here is another favourite place we like to spend
time in, Coffin Bay, on the west coast of the Eyre
Peninsula in South Australia.

In the last few years it has become a little too
fashionable for our liking with great holiday mansions
springing up wherever you look.
There is excellent fishing both in the bay and off the
ledges at the open sea. The main attraction for us is
the proximy of the abutting National Park.

Parts of he beach abound with sea shells in great
profusion ideal for children or the young at heart

For bird lovers it is a paradise, with many species
from this little New Holland Honeyeater to Sea Eagles

The harbour is protected by headlands and islands
from the open ocean and great for water sports

A view back to the settlement from one of the
headlands with great walks

and rock pools to explore for marine creatures.

At the end of the day there is always the possibility
of a splendid rainbow as the weather comes in

The Ocean beaches are magnificent with hardly
a soul in sight.

The national park I'll leave for another day.

To Klaus and the MY WORLD team as always, my
sincere appreciation for the work they do.

Milestones

How quickly the last 6 months have flown
since I started blogging. I have to thank my
wonderful daughter for showing me the ropes
and pushing me in head first.

I have met lovely people on the way and made
a few dear friends in distant places. For that I
am most grateful.

Learning by example and a few excellent tips
on bird photograpy have made a great deal of
difference in my aptitude and attitude, and in
consequence I now catch an occasional bird in
good light and in focus.

I thank all you kind bloggers for your encouraging
comments which I treasure and relish .

What better way to celebrate my 100th. post than
by wishing my wonderful granddaughter endowed
with style and flair, who gladdened our hearts by
joining the Christmas festivities in top hat and tails!,
is endowed with talent, beloved of animals, and cooks
like a dream

THE HAPPIEST BIRTHDAY ANYONE
HAS EVER HAD!
May your wildest dreams come true!

On such an occasion, even this grandmother can
rise to baking a favourite summer strawberry flan.

Wishing everyone, everywhere a wonderful day!
Stay safe, stay warm or cool as required, and above all,
stay happy.

SkyWatch *18 Christmas Day Sunset

We seldom get sunsets that are truly amazing
this was one of those.

All photos are in consecutive order and have
not been tampered with in any way.

I was down in the dell when I saw the light
and raced up the hill with all my might

the sky was aflame with colour so bright
I hurried to capture this marvellous sight

the further I went, the brighter it grew
till colour, pure colour was all that I knew

then fading, the darkening sky with delight
gave one more red flash to say good night.

To Klaus and the SkyWatch team, thank you.

MY WORLD ~ 9 Of Christmas Past.

To all who hold this season dear,
I extend my good wishes and Christmas cheer!

Where Love is , Christmas is in bloom
it fills your heart and every room

25 years ago when our house was lost to fire
40 years worth of my embroidery went as well.
To clear our daughter's head of engulfing flames,
we sent her to Europe and Canada to see relatives
and friends for a while instead. On her travels she
bought a piece of eaven weave and some coloured
threads and, starting at one corner, embroidered
this wonderful cloth for me designing as she went.
For an artist who paints with a very large brush , it
was a labour of love to constrain herself to meticulously
counting out and repeating for all four corners this
intricate design. (Please enlarge to see the twinkling
gold thread outlines). She came back for her father's
birthday (23rd, Dec.) with her Rucksack full of the
most wonderful Christmas decoratios so that, in our
unfinished house we had all the trimmings.

A detail that follows on from the corner

As the years have passed, she has taken more and
more of the weight from my shoulders. Christmas
eve with a feast at the farm below

Tatted snow flakes and wire bauble my
granddaughters have made for our little tree

A lesson in how to wrap presents: when faced
with a skateboard for your siblings, turn it into a
teddy!

More magic from granddaughters, gingerbread with
icing coloured with raspberries, violets and other edibles
from the garde.

One just for me hanging on our tree

Let Angels descend from Heaven above
and shower the earth with incredible Love
Let Peace for once reign
on this planet of strife
and continue throughout
the rest of all Life.

A Merry Christmas to All who visit this site
and so I will wish you a very good night.

I raise my brimming cup to the MY WORLD
team once more and encourage you to tap on

TODAY'S FLOWERS ~ 10 Christmas

To ALL who visit here I wish a
HAPPY CHRISTMAS

With young Father Christmas
in training below

although in Australia we do not have snow
our hearts are as light
and our Christmases bright
with red and green wonders
that grow.

My Cactus had twenty one blooms this year
which made it to me abundantly clear
it needed to show itself far and near
for all to enjoy it who see or hear.

and lastly to give you a special treat,
my Christmas spider so bright and sweet
on Christmas lily he sits and waites
to be joined by his family, friends and mates.

This little Archnid looks vicious and frightful
he doesn't bite or sting and is quite delightful.

To Luiz Santilly Jr., Denise B. Castro and Laerte Pupo
we all owe thanks for providing us with this venue to
show our flowers and plants.

Happy holidays to all!

SkyWatch *17 Changing Sky

Click on photos for greater effect.

All photos were taken in consecutive order in
the space of 20 minutes!

The sun just dropping down behind the hill.

Turn your head a little and the sky is a deep
blue with drifting balls of fluff,

a little more, and the attack comes in spearhead
formation

as the cloud war in the skies veers and shifts

some will 'o the whisps chasing each other

meanwhile, the sun has had enough of it and
done a disappearing trick!

leaving the moon in charge of the sky, but not
completely, those raging clouds still have some
say in the matter

as, seconds ater, they fight for supremacy with
the moon

while yet again the sky changes it's character as
a boat of dreams sails into the unknown.

Just too much for one worn out shutterfinger,
I leave it for the birds.
