While in Sydney, I met this very odd looking, very bright
flower just peeping out of its fire-engine red sheath.
When it opened up it looked like a bouquet of tiny Irises with
that brilliant red wrapper. I suspect it to be a Bromeliad, ah,
but which one?

Yes, Arija, it is a very beautiful Bromeliad. I grow many different ones but have never seen this one. A great find.
