Wild Bird Wednesday - Dogfight in the Sky

Scraping the bottom of the barrel, rain is not conducive
to good bird shots

with a little morning light, a gang of
NewHolland Honeyeaters
were making a lot of noise and playing tag

dive-bombing each other and exchanging a lot of
verbal flack

there were about a dozen of them, flying so fast I was
surprised I caught any of them in my sights

sorry about the very mediocre shots of this spring like behaviour
now that winter has barely arrived.

  1. It is remarkable how aggressive and violent birds can be, isn't it? And the fiercest of all are the little humming birds!

  6. It is neat trying to catch the fast moving birds. Arija, thanks for sharing the Honeyeaters, another new world bird for me. Maybe I will get to see one someday.

  7. Hardly ‘mediocre’, Arija – especially the third picture. I’d put that on a wall any day.

  8. Great shot, hard to get when they're flighty. More signs of spring when it should be winter?

  12. I can't see anything wrong with these shots Arija - there is a lovely clarity to them.
Incidentally, regarding my friend and her collecting wool scraps - she is not a spinner, she is a felt-maker so will be able to use the wool.

  20. Love watching the birds and their fun. Hope your winter isn't too dry. This Spring has been very wet here, but the garden is thriving. Guess I'd better not complain.

  21. Arjia, though I am half a world away and in the opposite season from you I can feel the autumn in your photos and love the look of them! It feels so melancholy to me. I cannot imagine the sound though!
