OUR WORLD, Nature Notes & Wild Bird Wednesday - Demolition Squad, Sulphur-crested Cockatoos

A big, big thank you to all me blog friends for their kindness
and support during my recent bereavement .

Now it is time to concentrate on another year successfully
completed and enjoy the day.

As soon as the sun was up, my demolition squad arrived
and had a good look at the job on hand

C'm on man, time to get started!

Hard Yakka but somebody's gotta to do it

Hey Mabel, look at me!!!

Oh yeah? See how much I've done at this end!

It may be hard work but it is kinda fun!

  2. What lovely shots. They are so cute also. Why are they nibbling and tearing those woods?

  4. Wonderful photos Arija! I remember the damage done to trees in the park by these naughty birds when I lived in Waikerie but their antics and acrobatics meant that you couldn't help but find them amusing.
My grandmother had a pet sulphur crested cockatoo that attacked anybody that came close, but butter wouldn't melt in its mouth (beak?) around my grandmother!

  5. They are beautiful Cockatoos. I had no idea they were such hard workers. Cute photos and captions. Wishing you a happy week ahead!

  6. They may be thugs (they often are thugs) but I have a very soft spot for the cockies. Even when they tug my tulip bulbs out of the ground...
    Hugs.

  10. Love the shots and the commentary. These birds can be very destructive to wooden houses.

  11. Great set of shots - they can do some damage - but at least they seem to be making you some kindling for next winter!!

Gangs Gangs really are very splendid.

  12. Not knowing over here in the UK the sort of damage they might do, they do look a very engaging species.

  16. Great photos - they are beautiful birds but really destructive! They fly over my place every morning - screaming! My son , visiting from the USA, said he had forgotten just how very noisy Aussie birds are.
