TODAY'S FLOWERS ~ Grevillea robusta

Grevillea robusta, the largest of our Grevilleas, matures to

a 35m tree. Used for honey production and beloved of honey

eating birds such as Honeyeaters, Lorekeets and Rosellas.

It is blooming in my garden as I write.

The flower of the Persimmon is hard to see,



it is leaf green and hidden in the leaf joint. If you
look closely, you can see the forming fruit in the centre.



The ripe Persimmon is a glowing orange and
deliciously sweet to eat.



Grevillea robusta is a native Australian tree growing
to a great height and covered in spring with golden
flowers delighting a profusion of Honeyeaters.
