Ardea novaehollandiae, my beautiful White Faced Heron is back!
He left when all the dams dried up last summer, but now
that we have had some reasonable rains and there is at least
some water flowing into them again, he has returned.
Just as the sun was rising, he flew directly over my head
calling in his croaky voce. I was so glad to have him back!

I never think that croaky voice sounds right for such a lovely looking bird!
ReplyDeleteI like such birds (and photos of birds) very much!
ReplyDeleteOh yes, he is beautiful. I'm glad he has come back to you. :)
ReplyDeleteWe have the Great Blue Heron here,.. and the same croaky voice. They are fascinating birds. I'm glad yours is back.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos of those birds flying!
ReplyDeleteYou are fantatstic, not a blur on these images! Super Ace!
ReplyDeleteArija, now you know I just thought of your magnifying glass comment. When someone comes to my room and sees a flourescent lamp with a magnifying glass next to my bed, hmn, that looks peculiar, whatever do I have to magnify!
Well, I tried it last night and I fell asleep of course but my son came in and said "What the heck!...wow! that is so cool Mom!" He approves so far so I am moving upwards from the base to the trunk!
I am home today, nursing this terrible cold and cough!
WHAT!? WHAT!? I can't die, I have so many unfinished paintings and illustrations and my husband and children need me and my team mates need me at work and Bella needs me...my sister called yesterday she said she had a terrible dream that I dove and did not emerge and she kept searching for me in the muck! She was frantic then all of a sudden I was standing beside her and she scolded me for diving. The dream horrified her and here you go telling me in a joking manner to draw if it kills me - oh my. You need to conduct some kind of ritual to get all the jinks. I wonder if I will choke on my spit today?
ReplyDeleteSo glad you've gotten enough rain to bring back the Heron.
ReplyDeleteOh good! Because my house is very dusty right now and I need to clean it plus I have laundry to finish! As tiif drink hey? That might do it, because I don't drink and taking a swig would probably kills me!
ReplyDeleteMagnificent photos!! He looks to be a large heron, too!
ReplyDeleteVery interesting bird. It can stand still like a statue for a long time and all of a sudden it moves quickly to catch his prey.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful capture of the Heron!
