OUR WORLD - The Lotus Pond

Yesterday I finally met another blogger, our own Dianne of
'Adelaide and Beyond' and 'All Things French'. We met up at the
Adelaide Botanical Gardens, shared a quick baguette and off to
the Lotus Pond for a shooting frenzy. Dianne is thinking of
upgrading to an SLR so we just used my Canon so she could get
a feel for it and see the difference between it and her present
point and shoot.

Here are a few I snapped in action as we had quite a blowy day.

The wonder of the Lotus blowing in the wind with it's last flowers
still perfect but showing seed pods in various stages of ripeness
as proof of the glory that graced the gardens during the last few
weeks.

The flower and the pod embracing . . .

and catch-as-catch-can, as the wind tilted the flower towards
me for a millisecond.

We spent a wonderful day together, getting to know each other
and wildly photographing and talking 'shop'.

Later in the day we shared an even greater wonder but that is for another day.
Sorry I am late posting but I was absolutely bushed after such an intensive shoot
and 3 hours of driving.

  8. Lotus plants, including flowers, fruits and all are always beautiful and serene. It is understandable why a religious inclination chose lotus as a symbol of their faith.

  10. The lotus flowers are just gorgeous! They stand tall and firm, and the petals so crisp! I know how it feels when you meet a fellow blogger, I met so far only 2.

Hehehe, you even drove 1 hour further than me (2 hrs from home to Joshua Tree -one way). Tiring but with full gratification.

  20. My morning just came alive with the wonder of these amazing beauties. I can see no movement in them at all, is as if the moments just stopped with each capture and they are delightful Arija. I have not been feeling up to par, so these brightened my day. A bad cold is always so annoying...

  24. I can now appreciate the Lotus seed pods that florists use in many arrangements! In fact I used several to create my oudoors winter arrangement out front.
I have never seen a lotus flower up close and personal!
I am joining this meme of views of our World!waving to you!
