Imagine my surprise as I headed into the village and spied these
vintage Holden cars. This is the all time iconic Aussie car.
The road outside the pub had a clutch of them on both sides,
obviously the owners were having a get together lunch there.
A quick U-turn, and I had snapped a few and
could zip onward to the next little town to get our necessities.
As you can see, it is autumn and the big pomegranate tree outside
the cafe was laden with fruit basking in the sun.
They are such incredible fruit, splitting with ripeness and showing
off their gleaming, ruby red, juicy insides.
What a wonderful world we live in, post yours and visit every one else's.

ReplyDeletethose cars are so cool!
ReplyDeleteWhoooaaa!!! You time-traveled to 1960?!
ReplyDeleteHeheh! Tsup!
Thank for that mini-trip back in time. I would be very surprised to see a street lined with vintage cars. And thank tou for the photos of the pomegranates still on the shrub, which I have never seen before. I do love pomegranates! YUM!
ReplyDeleteAhh! Holdens! What memories - my first car was an FJ Holden and I was so proud of it.
ReplyDeleteI love classic cars regardless of where they are made! Richard
ReplyDeleteI love pomegranates. How I wish we had them growing here Arija.
ReplyDeleteLucky you with great shots of teh old cars, interesting fruit ;))
ReplyDeleteI loved the photo of the pomegranates. A fruit I love but I have never seen them growing. Thanks for sharing them.
ReplyDeleteThey look like a Studebaker here. They're in great shape. Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River, Canada.
ReplyDeleteDelightful to see those old Holden cars in the street just like yester-year! and you have beautifully captured those big jewel like pomegranates bursting at the seams .... I just want to reach up and pick one.
ReplyDeleteYes, definitely an Aussie icon and doubtless you've stirred up a lot of fun memories. Great images -Thanks for sharing Arija
ReplyDeleteClassic cars and pomegranates … I have seen cars from other eras in my part of the world but never have I seen a pomegranate tree/shrub. The fruit looks like broken apples on the branches. I used to love the juicy seeds as a child and would sometimes ask my mom to buy one for me when she went shopping.
ReplyDeleteA very beautiful world, to be sure.
ReplyDeleteI love those Holdens.
ReplyDeleteMy Auntie and Uncle had one when I was little. Many a time I went with them as they backed it down their steep gravel driveway at Payneham. I think it even had slat aluminium awnings across the rear window, and the gears I think, were behind the steering wheel.Such fun cars.
As much as I enjoy the look and quirkiness of pomegranates, always feel you don't get much juicy value once you've tried to deal with the colourful seeds. An amazing fruit all the same.
Enjoyed your post Arija.
Wonderful images, the holdens and the pomegranates both. Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteHi there - splendid old cars. And the pomegranate looks good as well.
ReplyDeleteI think staying up all night really is the preserve of the young! I was planning to try to take some star trail images looking out to sea - but the fire and a glass of wine seemed a much better idea!

ReplyDeleteThe iconic Aussie cars remind me of good old days. The photos of the well ripen pomegranates filled me with the sweet sensation of lusciousness. Enjoy the season of cool, crisp air and mellow fruitfulness, arija.

Wow! Are you sure you didn't scan a photo from the 50's? LOL! What lovely shots! I love pomegranates. We planted a small tree in our yard in AZ and it became one of my favorites in the whole yard! I just love the blossoms as well as the fruit!
ReplyDeleteThe cars looks a little like the old Volvo. Always fun to see them. :)
ReplyDeleteFall is so beautiful, but right now I'm glad we're coming into summer.
ReplyDeleteThose cars look so similar to an old Plymouth my grandma used to drive back in 1959.
Love the Pomegranates too, and I'm wondering why the birds haven'r gotten to them.
I just love pomegranates, but have never seen them growing. What a treat to be able to pick one off the tree!
ReplyDeleteI can imagine your surprise, what a fantastic sight, the cars are super cool! Beautiful pomegranate shots!
