This little Thornbill was making so much noise in my birthday
tree that finally even I could spot it
with the help of my monopod I managed to hold my
500mm lens steady enough to get some
recognisable images
cute tiny birdie isn't he?
busily picking off the tiniest insects all over the tree
and chattering away like a pack of monkeys
doing some acrobatics
and telling me in no uncertain terms to buzz off
with my camera.
I like the total camouflage effect with the white spots on it's
head against the tree rind.

He is a nice little chap Arija, I love his speckled head.
ReplyDeleteReally a cute tiny birdie, nice photographs, Arija!
ReplyDeletelove his cute little speckled face!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful bird and I love the way he blends into his surroundings!! Great shots for the day! Hope your week is off to a good start, Arija! Enjoy!!
ReplyDeleteHe is a cutie Arija, and you took some great pictures of him.
ReplyDeleteWhat a cutie! Love the yellow underbelly!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos, great photowork!
ReplyDeleteStunning little bird. And given how fast the little birds move (make greased lightening look slow and predictable) stunning photos too.
ReplyDeleteThat last picture is amazing in the way it shows the bird camoflaged against the tree! It is an adorable little bird and I'm glad it made enough noise for you to see. (And glad you had a monopod -- I need to get one of those...maybe then I could take more pictures of small birds. If I could see them in the first place ))
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute little bird Love the yellow butt and the spotted head! Great shots! Enjoy your week ahead!
ReplyDeleteLovely bird, great shots too.
ReplyDeleteVery nice shots, and what a cute bird!
ReplyDeleteWhat a neat bird! beautiful and I love that last shot with him giving you the "eye"
ReplyDeleteYou're right, those spots do give it a camouflage effect! Great shots!
ReplyDeleteLovely shots Arija, how i wish to have a 500mm lens too, haha! I am angered by the birds in my building in the city, as they are cutting all the tops of my plants, but just eat the portion at the cut. They just leave the tops there!
ReplyDeleteHi Arija Great shots of this little bird. I would love to know which Thornbill this is?
ReplyDeleteMargaret, I did mention it in the heading but here is the Latin name as well: Acanthiza chrysorrhoa.
Deletethey are such weeny birds, and beautiful to see up close like this
ReplyDeleteNice little bird - we had flocks (15 to 20) around the house with the swallows - but they were always in the long grass!
ReplyDeleteI was a bit chilly and damp when I took the swallow shots.

Such an unusual looking bird. Its head markings seem to merge into the colouration of the bark on the trees.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful and cute bird.
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice little bird and I love the dotted head. The last shot is soo cool. You should enlarge it. :)
ReplyDeleteGreat photos of a beautiful little bird.
ReplyDeleteEin wunderschöner Vogel! Die Zeichnung auf seinem Kopf passt ja perfekt zur Rinde des Baumes.
ReplyDeleteA pretty little bird. It's not easy to spot him, he blends in really well.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely blog. Thanks for stopping my blog. The four escorted and ten refers to Lincoln's Gettysburg address. At the time he gave it the U.S.Constitution was four score and ten years old.
ReplyDeleteI think you did very well to get such nice photos of this thornbill. A 500mm lens is very hard to keep still without some kind of help!
ReplyDeleteHope my comment reached you. Thanks for stopping by
