TODAY'S FLOWERS - Australian Natives

With over 1,000 species of Eucalyptus trees native to
Australia, there are always some in flower no matter the
season.
Their leaves are aromatic and many are excellent dye plants
as well. Their colour range in flowers is from white, through
a variety of pink and orange to startlingly bright red through
all possible shades.

The flowers on this lemon variety are spectacularly large.

Another tree of many species is the Melaleuca. This lilac
pom-pom variety is a favourite of mine. A fairy young specimen
with aromatic leaves and bark, it is a large and dense bush in
my garden, a host to many nests of little birds and a very busy
place in Spring.

Eucalyptus ficifolia, a native of Western Australia, is just coming
into flower and bursting it's little caps off to reveal it's pretty
flowers. In full flower, the tree is one mass of colour.

Flowers brighten our days and you will find many more by clicking on
the Logo and adding your's as well.

TODAY'S FLOWERS ~ Winter Wonders

Captured this afternoon on my walk with cat and camera.
Banksia flowering in the park.

Banksia seed pods, the brown one from last year, the grey from
previous years.

The ground littered with Eucalyptus flowers picked by naughty
parrots just for something to do.

Just One More

This one belongs to the post below. It flatly refused
to load before.

Enlarge it and enjoy the wonder of the embossed
print of the Eucalyptus buds on the very edge of the
fabric. I run my fingers over them . . . it is like caressing
the live buds with my fingertips.
To clear up a small misunderstanding, India made it for
me while I was in intensive care where it was so sterile that
not even flowers were allowed, it kept me warm and sane there.
I am happily at home now and mending nicely, hospital
was no place for a computer as my sight also was affected
with all the anti-biotics.
Here's to getting well and walking the greening paddocks.
Thank you all for caring and sending me so many kind thoughts.

TODAY'S FLOWERS ~ 32 Wonders of Spring

There were compensations along the way in driving
a thousand miles to Sydney. This glorious flower display
greeted us on leaving our cabin in a caravan park in
Blackheath in the Blue Mountains of New South Wales.

We were lucky enough to get the last night in the
last cabin when we were dog tired, so tired we did
not even notice the beauty of the street until the
next morning.

The whole street was full of Azaleas, there was a pond
in the dell surrounded by Cherry Trees.

Ducks on the pond and sun on the cherry blossom,
there was beauty all around....

as we headed up the hill again through the extensive
gardens, the Rhododendrons hit us like a steam train,
they were enormous and many were in full bloom.
No wonder the place was booked out until November
with the Rhododendron festival starting!

Rhododendrons as high as houses and in the most
vibrant colours imaginable...

this one made a pretty picture shielded by the
protective arms of the native Australian Eucalypt.
The Rhododendron was a good 30' tall, seldom have
I seen one so large.

So often when one makes an effort to do something nice,
the Universe blesses one with a wonderful gift - this
was such a time.

All pictures enlarge, enjoy!

The world is full of beautiful flowers, click on the Logo and see.

Thanks to Luiz Santilli Jr. and the Flower Team we can join in
and enjoy this meme.
