TODAY'S FLOWERS ~ Reminiscing of Glenbarr Station

Still wallowing in fond memories of the 'Enfoldments' Retreat.
*
Snapdragons at the dining hall door
*

*
and a big bush of these tiny flowers at our cottage door.
Sorry I can't tell you their name at present, I'm having a
senior's moment. This afternoon I had misplaced the name
of Lantana, now, when I want this one, I get Lantana instead....
*
A fair exchange is no robbery I suppose.
*

*
This old plum tree had been teasing us all week and just on the
last day it decided to treat us to some blossom on one branch.

Thanks to this delightful flower meme, we can all walk in fields
of flowers at will by just clicking on the Logo. Enjoy!

Wildwood Dreaming ~ Nature Notes

This post is for Ces, my little sister-friend who
inspires me to experience once again the child-like
pleasure of seeing the world a new every day as
though it had just been created for my delectation.

The wild wood is my refuge
there I can dream of spring...

the poplars waking early
telling tales in silky voices on the wind

wild quinces bank along the creek, pale green
their blushing buds displaying

while the humble plum, industrious as ever,
is weighted down with half ripe fruit.

Dogroses on the eastern side are tardy in their flowering
while in the west their sisters smile in foolsome bloom.

The hawthorns have tight button-buds,
just one, a little bolder,
has opened up her sleepy eyes
to greet the warmth of longer days.

Dragonflies or damselflies, whatever they may be,
hover over water

thick with frogspawn as a morning frost
with promises of concerts yet to come.

The watchful unicorn , her pride by day concealing,
yet holds the golden key to all our silent dreaming.

Thank you Ces for the love and friendship you so
generously share and the immense inspiration that you are.

TODAY'S FLOWERS ~ 27 A Spring Serenade

"Flowers bloom in the Spring of the year......."

Shedding the last drought stricken leaves, what was
left of the bush is bursting into glorious bloom.

This self -seeded Primula in a hanging basket has
been giving me hope throughout the winter and now,
having burst into full bloom with the warmer weather,
greets me with its gentle scent and vibrant beauty.

The bloom on the Almond trees is fading as the
gentle green leaves come forth.

A little icing on the cake from last year, just because
I'm rather fond of this Poppy, Papaver somnifera.

Forget about the calender, Spring is here and nectar
is on the menu, just a quick flying visit to this
ornamental Prunus which was thick with buzzing bees.

For this or any other season's floral click on the Logo and enjoy!

To Luiz Santilli Jr. and his trusty helpers, a big thank you!
