have flowered for my birthday, except this year.
*
*
Some years it would be the first blossom, sometimes the last
and sometimes all else inbetween but not this year, this year
they are eight days late. Are we really in a global warming cycle
or is this the first sign of another ice age?
*
These pictures were taken this afternoon, after a few sunny
days the first two blossoms opened.
*
*
The first bloom on my roses, 'Ophelia', my mother's favourite.

These blossoms are exquisite...such a delight for my eyes on this our first truly cold morning.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos---a pick me up on an under-the-weather day.
ReplyDeletePerhaps the drought had something to do with things blooming late, as all our rain and late Spring made my few remaining flowers bloom totally out of their nowmal time.
Love the tree!
XXOO~~♥
Anne
They may be late but they certainly are beautiful and worth waiting for!
ReplyDeleteHappy Belated Birthday Arija!
Your blooms are exquisite not matter when they happen. We are seeing the aspen turn gold at least a week late this year. Climate change will bring about many adaptations.
ReplyDeletegorgeous blooms you have!
ReplyDeleteMy flowers for today
It is strange to think that things are changing with global warming. It takes a long time, so what will it be like when our grandchildren are our age? shudder!
ReplyDeleteI love your mother's favorite rose - the Ophelia. And such a lovely name, too!
The cherry blossoms are late but very lovely.

Buona serata :)
Myriam
It is lovely to see spring blooming from the other side of the world as we lurch wetly into Autumn.
ReplyDeleteYour cherry buds and blossoms and rose are gorgeous. I have had that happen with special flowers that always bloomed on a significant day and then changed.
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday, Arija, and it's so nice to see spring flowers! Here in Austria the leaves are beginning to change colours :)
ReplyDeleteHave a nice week ahead!
Lovely bloom! L
ReplyDeletei shiver at the thought of ice age. lovely blossoms.
ReplyDeleteExquisite flowers and captures, Ariji! And such lovely colors to brighten up our very gray day here in Seattle. Hope you have a great week!
ReplyDeleteSylvia
They are so beautiful and you did great photos of them Arija.
ReplyDeleteHow lucky to have them greet you on your birthday with blooms for years!
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday! And may you have many blooms to greet you even with 'climate change'!
There is no accounting for nature's whacky timing. Hope you don't have a year like our last one.
ReplyDeleteShould I say " Happy Birthday" Arija. That pink color is gorgeous! I think I can smell the Rose.
ReplyDeleteB.
Beautiful blossoms. I wish they would open for your birthday.
ReplyDeleteLovely, lovely photos. All of them.
ReplyDeletePaz
At last they bloomed and they are delightful and abundant little blossoms!
ReplyDeleteGlobal warming? I say...pfft!
They are beautiful Arija. And a happy belated birthday :) Thanks for stopping by. My zoo animals were in a previous post if you would like to take a look sometime. Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteVery lovely and delicate pink blooms.
ReplyDeleteOur birthdays must be close, mine is today. A lovely warm spring day to sit outside, the first for ages. the wisteria is out and so is the quince tree but other things are late.
ReplyDeleteFantastic.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations
The cherry blossoms are delightful and well worth waiting for - regard them as a belated birthday gift. 'Ophelia' is a beautiful rose.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful blooms. Great shots. Love the color of your rose.
ReplyDeleteVery beautiful flowers! And your comment was interesting about the cherry blossom not appearing! Last year, my apple tree was laden with blossom! This year there is literally none and leaves are appearing first! It must be all this rain!
ReplyDeleteBetter late than never. These are certainly worth the wait. Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteNice to see spring smewhee in the world.
ReplyDeleteAs autum is slowly setting in here i enjoy your cherryblossoms all the more.
