of loves lost and left behind
cling in dark moments
to disturb our sleep
and keep
the memories alive.
When it lies trampled
and the crows have picked the bone
some glimmer of the truth still clings
and shines.

beautiful poem Arija...poor creature....yet it gives us much to ponder about the brevity of existence. Lovely shadows, the colors are so vibrant!
ReplyDeleteSad capture, but such beautiful words that do indeed offer us much to ponder. Love the colors! Hope you have a lovely weekend!
ReplyDeleteSylvia
Nice drive-by shadow.
ReplyDeleteI assume that's a kangaroo. Must be pretty recent to be so much still held together. I would have wanted the skull. Hope that doesn't sound too gross. Oh well.
The skeleton lies in repose, this 'roo lived a full life and now rests alone, but peacefully...
ReplyDeleteHi Arija
ReplyDeletegrande poesia... ma la foto รจ terrificante !!!
Buona giornata :)
Myriam

ReplyDeleteLove the second shot!
ReplyDeleteLovely shadow of you vehicle and the trees along the road. The skeleton is interesting. Have a great weekend, Arija. Blessings, Jo
ReplyDeleteBoth of your images here capture one's attention in a myriad of ways, your words make them even more memorable.
ReplyDeleteLove your summer shadows!
ReplyDeleteYou've chosen an interesting photo to accompany your poem about shadows of the mind.
Beautiful Arija.. don't you just want to have that skeleton mounted...
ReplyDeleteKangaroo...even in death, there is a quiet dignity to Mother Nature...
ReplyDeleteI love the second photograph. And your words. The first is disconcerting but unpretentious.
ReplyDeleteSo, you just happened upon this ShadowShot?? Is it a kanga?? About your poem: You are waaaaayyyyy too deep for me! (I've)Always had a hard time finding the hiden meaning in The Heart of Darkness.
ReplyDeleteSorry guys, nothing quite so romantic as a kangaroo, just a common very old sheep that went to its final sleep and we had not noticed else it would have seen decent burial.

ReplyDeleteBeautifully written, boy would I love to have that skull...lol!
ReplyDeleteBoy, you really did have the rains, but everything looks so lush AND WARM, we're having ice storms here in Iowa...argh!!! Enjoy that summertime!!!
don't cry because it's over, be happy because it was...great shots.
ReplyDeleteThe first photo is sad. I also thought it was a kangaroo skeleton! I'm quite surprised to learn that it isn't! The second photo is gorgeous! What magical colours you've captured!
ReplyDeleteI love that poem. It fits so well with that poor creature.
ReplyDeleteThe shadows awesome!

interesting and evocative pictures. Your words set them off nicely.
ReplyDeleteThat first shot perfectly describe how I feel on Monday mornings ;-) Great shadows!
ReplyDeleteAhh...poor dead thing. The light in the 2nd phot has a lovely quality.
ReplyDeleteOh my. You've turned something sad and a little frightening into something romantically beautiful.
ReplyDeletewell, I'm not sure which I like the more ~ the poem or the photos. they are both lovely and speak softly like the shadows. the sadness of the first with the warmth of the second makes them beautiful together. have a beautiful day!
