OUR WORLD & Nature Notes - The Joys of Home

My horizons have shrunk a little recently so it was not only a
great surprise but also a great joy when my eldest
granddaughter built a beautiful chicken coop for my birthday
last month

If you enlarge, you can see it in all it's glory gracing the corner
of my fallow veggie patch, front left, rain gauge on the stone seat

when my grandchildren provide, they provide thoroughly, three
bantam pullets and a bin of wheat as well + two eggs they had
laid in transit

within four days, they were tame enough so I could let them
mow the lawn and hunt for insect pests

up close and personal, when I step outside, they very soon find me

and together we enjoy the spring and the view down to my
daughter's house and the huge false acacia, apple trees in bloom
and the pink of Tamarix gallica just showing at bottom left.

The world is beautiful and I am well content.

  7. Congratulations for a well contented life. YOur area is so wide to very well care for your pets. We have native chickens too, but mother spoiled them and they don't anymore want to look for their own food even if they are free.

  11. How wonderful Arija. Chooks multiply our contentment factor many times - they are great to have around aren't they.. Such lucky little bantams to have your property to free range and explore.
Enjoy each others company. Great gift from the grandkids!

  16. You have some new pals, Arija! I'd be sitting and watching them peck about the yard - and I bet the eggs taste great!

  17. We have a cubby in the corner of the garden - and once it is no longer in use, the space has "chickens" written all over it!

Virus gone - but appetite not back - which is good for the waistline, but rather boring!
