Shadow Shot Sunday ~ Just Shadows

The path along the front of the house is an infinite source of

morning shadows . . .

a constitutional walk in the morning along the tracks between

our paddocks opens another world of colour and animals

seeking shade from the hot summer sun.

Our paddocks are dried off unlike Queensland, New South

Wales and Victoria who are all in the grip of floods while

Western Australia has been fighting deliberately lit bushfires.

Massive floods have also beset Sri Lanka and Brazil. In Sri

Lanka the loss of life has been horrendous. Brazil

has had major landslides as well as floods.

In Queensland the population has rallied as a whole and are

helping complete strangers to clean the mud and debris from

their houses, tradesmen are offering their services free of

charge as are veterinarians. There have been traffic jams with

long queues of cars of people volunteering aid.

Hats off to the Queenslanders showing true community spirit!

this meme. I for one hope her house stayed dry.

SkyWatch ~ The Sky, 5 Minutes Ago

This is the tail end of a tropical low that has crossed the continent
from the North coast right down to South Austraia, flooding
parts of Queensland, New South Wales and Centra Australia.



Above, looking West up the hill with a few of my roses in the
right hand corner.

Looking up at the same spot but slightly more towards the South.



Looking directly South it looks like the eye of the storm,



and this is the East with the clouds rising. Unfortunately it
is not even expected that we will get any rain out of this...
a pity, as we could most definitely use some.

Watery Wednesday ~ Carnarvon Gorge, Queensland

Thank you all for visiting and leaving comments which I treasure.
I am sorry I cannot at present return the compliment. It is as
much as I can manage to put up a post.

Fingerlings restocking the river for Heron takeaways.

Some evidence along the riverbank of the recent massive storm

flood that roared down the gorge uprooting large trees and

washing away great boulders set as stepping-stone crossings,

ripping out steel ladders cememted into sheer cliffs and generally

creating havoc.

Now the river is deceptively calm and benign but beware of

thunderstorms further up stream!

SkyWatch ~ 23 A Sad, Sad Sunrise

Our country is in mourning.

Loss of life climbing towards 300 from the fires in Victoria.

Hospitals full of burns victims.

*

Queensland to the north ravaged by massive floods

and South Australia where we are, stricken

by drought.

*

5 empty dams, some bore water left for the minimal core

of our animals and rationed rainwater for our two households.

Another heat wave is approaching.

*

Everything is tinder dry, should a repeat performance of

Ash Wednesday 1983 occur when we had our turn, we have

no water reserves to protect ourselves.

Our hearts and prayers are with the Bush Fire victims in

Victoria and New South Wales and all those affected by the

loss of life in the Queensland flooods.
