The sky was almost melodramatic covering the
entire firmament with these amazing clouds.
Whichever way you turned, the shutterfinger
developed a nervous twitch
Building and veering they raced a marathon
to blast the heavens asunder
only to melt into a sunset reflecting on the land
in gentleness akin to sleep of babes.
Pictures taken within the space of one hour.
All can be enlarged for better viewing.
As ever, my gratitude to Klaus and the SkyWatch
team for the splendid work they do.

ReplyDeleteThe sky is my absolute favorite drama series. You have captured the dynamic appearance from moment to moment beautifully! I love the first one with the tempermental clouds working to form a cumulostratus deck which is a few down, and then the sunset tearing away at what was done... making a soft cascade of romantic hues in a diamond sky... awesome!
ReplyDeleteStay warm.
Your pictures grows even better each time I visit you! You are a marvellous photographer, Arija! Many thanks for all your tributes to the SWF.

ReplyDeleteThese are wonderful! I like how in a couple of them it's mostly clouds and you just see a hint of the blue sky behind them.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful to see these clouds glide over the landscape. Indeed full of drama, except for the last two ... suddenly it's calm and peaceful.

ReplyDeleteNow this is really a breathtaking series of cloud happenings.
ReplyDeleteVery dramatic :) It's very rare in my area of California for the skies to change so rapidly. I look out the picture window at my office a lot and maybe once or twice a year it happens. I'm glad you captured the variety and shared it all at once with us!
ReplyDeleteAnd thanks for suggesting it was a clear filter on my double sunset :) You must be right. I do have that one there... *sheepish grin*
Dramatic skies - we may not like the weather they bring, but they make lovely photos.
ReplyDeleteHaven't visited in awhile, I see what I've been missing. Lovely, lovely work. The bottom sky photo with the sweet pink clouds is my fave. And the roses below are just heaven. My mom used to grow Sutter's Gold, I remember. Lucky you to have so many.
ReplyDeleteThat's a breath taking shot..
ReplyDeleteLove all of 'em
What an interesting Skywatch set! I especially like how in the first photo a hole in the clouds looks heart-shaped.
