birds, the entertainment value of his terrorising the
cat by loudly clicking his beak loudly just above her
head, is worth every bit of the down side.
More shots will follow another time, I could not find
them among the thousands of photos on my lap-top.

Thank you Birdfreak for this informative meme.

That is one "meanlooking" bird but I'm glad he's great entertainment in your garden. No cat would dare take on this bird...
ReplyDeleteI recommend you saving up all your files on USB Arija. It makes a very dependable back-up than leaving them all in your hard drive.
ReplyDeleteMaybe this poor fellow needs a permanent friend so he can't be nasty with his fellow creature. :)
How interesting to read about your Wattlebird.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing the picture!!

It is wonderful how you are able to capture these priceless moments!
ReplyDeleteThank you for your comment on my blog.. you are very right... I am in search of something I probably do not know exactly myself.
Thanks for the post. I've got some pictures of loons on the French River in Canada that I need to take a look at. If they turned out ok I will be able to use them in a post. Joe Todd
ReplyDeleteHaha... terrorizing the cat - that might make a fun video! ;)
ReplyDeleteNext time I am in Oz I'll try to look out for the Wattlebird. He looks like a cheeky one! Beautiful bird though!
ReplyDeleteBeing from Canada I wasn't familiar with the Wattlebird. Great photo of what is, for me, a very exotic bird.
ReplyDeleteI love to watch the birds, here especially the rainbird Lorikeets, they are so clownish in their behaviour. They can be aggressive to and messy with the blossoms. The wattlebird is pretty with his long tail. I do not know if it lives here. Many of the birds here are in transit. Now, towards spring the butcherbirds are back with their melodious song.
ReplyDeleteI had a chuckle at your description of the bird terrorizing your cat. Its Blue-faced Honeyeaters that chase my cat!
ReplyDeleteThe Wattlebird sounds like our Mockingbirds. They like to dive bomb my bomb my cats.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!
ReplyDeleteGreat photo - the feathers are sharp. He's an interesting looking critter, and for me, quite exotic. The light edge on his feathers is very attractive.
ReplyDeleteThe Wattlebird is new to me. It looks very dapper in your photo, but I would guess that your cat has a different impression of him.
ReplyDeleteDespite its "attitude" towards the poor cat and your blossoms, what a beautiful bird, Arija!
ReplyDeleteFirst time I've seen a Wattlebird and I agree with Jo, don't think any cat would try to take him on!
ReplyDeleteHave a great week, Arija1

Great capture of the Red Wattlebird form the backside Arija! I can imagine the cat steering clear of a rather large bird with what looks like a very sharp beak!
ReplyDeleteHahaha, I bet the cat is not amused. I'd love to see those shots :-)
ReplyDeleteI don’t know about this bird. I like the way you’ve taken its photo. It looks beautiful.
ReplyDeleteWhat a Beauty!
ReplyDeleteAnd grin, now I have a vivid image of him terrorizing the cat :D
I need one of those birds to keep the dogs busy ;)
Beautiful shot of a beautiful bird! You have such a rich wildlife!!
ReplyDeleteI wish we had a wattlebird here in our backyard to chase the cats away. :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your wonderful photo and story, Arija.
Great shot, I love the design of the feathers on his back. Thank you for introducing me to this interesting looking bird.
ReplyDeleteArija: What a neat bird.
