World Bird Wednesday - A little hen Wren

The little Wrens were chattering in the garden fit to burst
and this cutie let me have a couple of shots at her in one of
my not yet pruned rose bushes.

The female of our Superb Blue Wrens only has blue on the tail.
I shall endeavour to show you the colourful male of the species
as soon as a.) I get a shot at one or b.) I find one in my archives,
whichever comes first . . .

They can really make a racket with their territorial disputes.

Click on the Logo and show us what is flapping around in your vicinity!

  4. What a little beauty Arija. I have a pair of House Wrens nesting in one of my Bluebird houses right now. I can only imagine how warm it must be in there.

  13. Nice pictures. You are right, wrens are so territorial, not only among themselves but also in relation to other species. We didn't have any this year and so the American Robin could nest in peace.

  19. I normally throw out old rice and bread in the garden, today I threw out 3 apples and I had a feast watching my birds. Wish I had a good camera like yours.

  23. these are tricky little things to get a photo of, they move so fast! Was wondering, maybe its an immature male not a female, the males only have a blue tail in their 'eclipse' plumage - i think the female has a brown tail? I see them a lot outside my office window, but Im no expert. There is some discussion on this here: http://www.birdsinbackyards.net/forum/messages.cfm?threadid=C5BB8AA3-EF08-7353-80C532F7CCBEC8C0
