TODAY'S FLOWERS ~ 19 Accent on Pink

I have had this lovely Tree Peony for more than
twenty years and was very sad to lose it this
summer due to our total lack of water.

Could this devoted Louis Armstrong fan possibly
leave a rose glorying in the name of 'Blueberry Hill'
in the nursery?.....in the inimitable words of Eliza
Doolittle, 'not b.... likely!'

This rose is called 'Sonia Reykel', it has a perfume
to die for and is generally superbly
beautiful and old fashioned.

  2. Loosing an established plant in the garden is very sad.
It takes so long to grow a tree peony, but what can you do?

    Love all of your pictures.

  4. Oh, I do hope 'Sonia Reykel' will grow here. I love the color, and if it has great fragrance, that would make it just about perfect.

  14. Such a glorious tree peony! May it rest in peace! Could you not carry the water from the shower out to the garden? Or the dishwater? It is a pain, I know, but for the beloved plants?
    Hope the roses make it!

  22. It is sad to loose a well loved plant, they become like family members. But there is always a time to pass on I suppose. Perhaps you will find another beautiful plant to replace it that you will love for another 20 years.
