In my three score years and ten I had never seen
a rainbow at sunrise until this one came along.
*
*
the rainbow becomes clearer
*
and as the effect of the sunrise fades, the colours
strengthen against the rain clouds
until the full arc spreads across the sky.
*
Snapped with my funny little shoe phone.

Thanks to the wonderful Skywatch Team we can all join in with
this fun and informative meme.
We get some beautiful ones here around sunset, generally after wicked storms.

Spectacular! A very special sunrise capture...I like the vertical hold.
ReplyDeletereally great ... but please, tell me, what is a SHOE PHONE??? Do you phone with your shoes? Heavens, I could learn quite a lot from you! greetings from kri
ReplyDeleteWow! Absolutely magnificant! You must have been enthralled as you watched the rainbow develop.
ReplyDeleteThat is a wonderful way to start the day.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,Ruth

ReplyDelete'Shoe phone harkens back to an old TV series called Get Smart where the anti-hero Max and his glamorous assistant 99 are pitted against Russian spies. Max has a phone in his shoe at a time when mobile phones were not yet invented. It was a popular comedy series intended for family viewing and a spoof on James Bond, Inspector Clouseau and the cold war.
Arija, just beautiful and magical!!
ReplyDeleteArija, dearest, blogger has enabled a spam filter to filter out all spam/porn comments. Have you seen it? It works just great and you don't need to use word verification anymore! It sends all the spam to the spam folder, even if you have your comment moderation set to moderate comments on posts older than x amount of days. I have mine set to moderate comments on posts older than 3 days and it still sends the current spam straight to the spam folder! No one ever sees it but you! It is so awesome!
ReplyDeleteI don't think I've ever noticed a rainbow at sunrise either, but then I'm not up and about for many sunrises - that's the price I pay for being a night owl. So, thanks for sharing this.
ReplyDeleteI am so envious that you could get these good pictures with your phone. I have so much trouble capturing rainbows. Lovely Arija, thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteHi Arija; It is very special to see a rainbow at sunrise. It does not happen very often! How are you? I don't know where I have been, I must ask myself. Have a nice weekend.
ReplyDeleteOh I am reminded of that You Tube video about rainbow... :)
ReplyDeleteI love rainbos. I never have enough room to capture them! The bottom shot is perfect!
Arija, this looks almost angelic, just such rare beauty in the wispy clouds and then the gentle appearance of the beautiful rainbow, luscious dear one~
ReplyDeletelovely shots - so thankful you had your shoe-phone at the ready! I cannot remember seeing a rainbow at sunrise but that could be due to the fact that I'm rarely out of my cocoon until well after the sun has risen.
ReplyDelete~Dianne~
Some of those shots remind me of a giant sprinkler! Awesome!
ReplyDeleteThese are wonderful rainbow shots. What a treat to see them.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your tip about putting a wet towel on your head in the heat. That's a great idea. I'll have to try that. I used to have a shower on my deck and I'd get wet that way in the summer. I still have the shower but never got repairs done years ago when it needed it and at this point I've let the vines cover the shower head.
Ooh, this is marvelous Arija.
ReplyDeleteI love looking at the skies, for they offer so much hope and beauty, changing every second.
B.
These are just great photos! I can't remember ever seeing a rainbow at sunrise either. Not that I see too many sunrises, being a nightowl. Heh. Nice blog!
ReplyDeleteOh Arija, that is so magical. I've never seen a rainbow at sunrise. The sky glows and brightens the ground below. Awesome!
ReplyDeleteBTW, the skeletal trees in my SWF post are part of the 2006 Warm fire in the Kaibab National Forest.
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing sky show and your photos are really beautiful.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful weekend!
It looks like a dancing fountain I see in Sentosa island in Singapore.
ReplyDeleteHow are you and are you ready to vote?
Arija ~ the first two pictures are absolutely magical... Good thing we have those handy little cameras that are so easy to take along... I've caught many wonderful sights with my cellphone camera...
ReplyDeleteI love how the rainbow pours out of the mist... just dreamy!
~ wishing you peaceful moments during the coming weekend ~

Excellent photos. We get rainbows at sunset regularly, as the storms move off to the east, but I don't remember one at sunrise either.
