OUR WORLD - Kangaroos

Kangaroos on an overgrown road reserve between two of our
paddocks . . .

" What's up Frank, why are you pricking those ears?"

"Will you just look at that? The cheek! She's walking right
towards us."

"It's old an old lady with a camera Frank". " Ha, ya never can
tell with these ol' biddies . .
.

I'm outa here . . ."

Our World Is a fun place, show us what is in your corner!

  6. I just watched a show on Nature called 'Kangaroo Mobs' and the problems of urban roos. There is a cull of course...interesting program as I didn't realize the power of a kangaroo or that they could become a problem as our deer have in urban area....

  7. Hi Arija, What's commonplace to you is exotic to me! (A moose maybe - but never a Kangaroo here in the Rocky Mountains.) Great action shot.

  8. Love them. We have kangas on a reserve close to us, and down by the lake and I always smile when I see them. Doesn't their colouring tone in beautifully with summer grass.
    Thank you.

  12. Something we see only in zoos and what fun the way you put words in their mouths.

  13. I have to agree with Barn--what's commonplace to you is exotic to me, and I do have those moose in my yard. In fact, a few days ago one came up on the deck and peeked in the kitchen window before ambling off. Very different worlds we live in!

  15. Very cute. Looks like the roo on the run is carrying a joey.

You're a brave ole bitty to approach them. ;)

Just watched a documentary about urban roos and the continual loss of habit due to development.

Someday I shall see them in Australia.

    Hope you are well. Hugs!

  20. I had a little Red Fox in my yard the other day, which was pretty neat, but having Kangaroos in your yard, would just be so very delightful. How close to your home do they get...do they eat your flowers and shrubs the way our deer do here? Beautiful images~

  21. I’ve seen a lot of bunny ears amid tall grasses but never kangaroos. :)

  22. I love the photos and the commentary. I'm like my countrywoman, Kay. It's been a long time since I've visited Australia. I never forget the thrill of feeding roos and the sadness at seeing so many killed along the highway.

  29. I visited Australia last year and had a lot of fun in the kangaroo pen at the Taronga Zoo! They are such strong and fast animals. I'd love to see them in the wild like this.

  30. Great shots! We have deer that like to challenge the traffic on major roads. Sometimes they lose (and so does the auto).

  34. We just watched a TV documentary about 'roos living in suburban Australian towns. Semi-peaceful coexistence. Guess many other commenters saw the same show.
