Waiting for the dog to catch up to my car, I always check out our
dam in the park
all summer there was hardly a bird on it
imagine my surprise at seeing unusual ducks on this occasion
in fact, two lifers for me, at least the first time I stopped to
identify a Grey Teal (left) and a Hardhead behind
the Grey Teal is quite a small duck with a distinctively
pale chin and neck
a pretty little thing, I hope they come again

ReplyDeleteHello there - nice ducks - Hardhead is a funny name!
ReplyDeleteSome how the link on WBW was pointing at your last post - about big birds - I have edited it to make it point at this post - that made sense given the picture of the duck!

ReplyDeleteI can not wait to be able to get outside again and take pictures of birds and water life. Frozen tundra right now. Only birds I see are at the feeders, Did see that we have a lot of Swans though........Janice
ReplyDeletetwo lifers , two beauties! I hope they come again. I just recently started to try to learn ducks. I don't think we have these two over here tho.

ReplyDeleteHope you are doing well, Arija.
Gosh - I've been called a "hardhead" - I had no idea there was a duck by that name. Hope your weekend is going well, Arija.
ReplyDeleteWhat a special treat.
ReplyDeleteNearly missed this, have been working past 2 days out in yard from the 6 lost and downed trees from a month ago...such hard work, but gratifiying too. Those Ducks are just too adorable. I have been learning about Ducks and other interesting water birds, which I will be sharing soon, they are such great looking creatures and they swim...sigh, I am terrified of the water. Hugs
ReplyDeletePretty ducks. Exciting to get two lifers at once!
ReplyDeleteΠανέμορφες!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteIt was nice catching up with you! We wait for Spring. The Robins has arrived and the chipmunks have come out of hiding and have noticed several have perished from the cold. There is promise of + temps next week! Fingers crossed.
ReplyDeleteIt's always so exciting when you find a bird you haven't seen before. I have tried going out searching for anything to photograph around here, but things are still frozen. The promise of warmer days ahead, and I'll try again. Take care Arija. I'm doing fine. New chicks coming soon, so I'll be busy.
ReplyDeleteHi Arija, it has been a bit since your last post here, just wanted to stop by and check in on you. Loving you~ Hugs
