Watery & World Bird Wednesday - Egrets and Pelicans

"Gone fishin' . . ." Egret and, are they Herons or juvenile Egrets?

Can some knowledgeable person please enlighten me???

The fishing was good so when they had had enough, they flew into

the Norfolk Island Pine to roost. It was still afternoon, maybe

just for an afternoon nap.

The fishing was so good that there were no squabbles between

species. Here the Pelican, Pelicanus conspicillatus, has no

problem in sharing his space with two Australasian Darters,

Anhinga novaehollandiae.

I just threw in this baby Pelican because it was so cute with

its mouth full. Note the change of water colour with an 180

degree directional change in photographing.

A daytrip to the Rockhampton Botanical Gardens

Tropical trees are not my speciality, it had no label
but was tall and wide and covered in vermillion
flowers and cheeky Noisy Miner birds.



The Egret rookery, one did have to watch out
from above.



The youngsters were just hangin' round, being bored

flew right by...

Birds of another feather, a domestic Goose hanging
round with an Ibis and being spied on by a Moor Hen

Some boats high and dry as we said farewell to the
Bat colony on leaving Yeppoon and aiming our car

towards Carnarvon Gorge. Next week if you are patient,

the next exciting episode, a walk in the gorge.

These birds were photographed in April at the
Wetlands in Yeppoon, Queensland, Australia.

Flight of the Egret



Although the water levels were down, it was still
pretty exciting. Egret, White Ibis and one
Straw-necked Ibis, Threskiornis spinicollis in flight.



Frogmarching White Ibis, Threskiornis molucca
one got lucky and caught his breakfast.
