OUR WORLD & Wild Bird Wednesday - Cape Barren Geese

A couple of years ago we went to Hindmarsh Island,
across the bridge from Goolwa, South Australia.

The Cape Barren Geese were grazing in a field next to the road.
There were bushes along the road, so I had to get out of the car
to get a shot.

I was used to the very tame flock on Kangaroo Island, so was
surprised at how skittish these were. Although I was behind
cover, they were on the alert as soon as I got out of the car

and took off after the first ground shot I got.

Suddenly they were all in the air, up, up, and away . . .

SkyWatch ~ Goolwa Sunset Part 2

. . . and so the sky show continues with Hindmarsh Island
lit up like a Christmas tree

as the Christmas lights fade, a magical rainbow appears

and grows brighter still.

Off to the side the voluminous rain clouds colour up

as the rainbow intensifies and the surrounding clouds lose
some of their pink.

The horizon below the pink cloud dulls to blue, yet all is not
done yet, the dynamic skies are still in store for next week.

Tune in again next week for the exciting part of this particular sunset.
